Private Equity Sr. Fund Accountant

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague with a dedicated work ethic and a sharp mind who will be responsible for the accounting and reporting function as it relates to all aspects of its private equity funds, including preliminary and ongoing investment ROI analysis, capital calls, distributions, management fees, waterfall calculations, quarterly private valuation process, and support of the interim/year end audits. 

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you’ll coordinate and manage external relationships with administrators, compliance consultants, audit, tax and valuation service providers by performing the following:

Accounting/Reporting

  • Establish, maintain, and comply with accounting policies and procedures in accordance with best industry practices
  • Ensure all fund activity is properly recorded in ERP (Intacct) in accordance with GAAP:
    • Ensure royalty and net publisher share transactions are recorded in appropriate level of detail using proper calculations as per individual agreements
    • Reconcile PW ERP to Fund Administrator accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
    • Process all Accounts Payable transactions including royalty payments to writers
  • Liaise with Business Affairs and Royalties teams to ensure proper understanding of intricacies of asset agreements
  • Review the Fund Administrator’s quarterly and annual NAV packages and waterfall schedules, ensuring proper investment allocations
  • Prepare, review, and distribute monthly fund financials internally to management
  • Work with Fund Administrator to review and distribute quarterly fund financials to external stakeholders
  • Monitor cash balances and manage cash flow via debt and capital calls, taking into account all fund activity and distribution projections
  • Liaise with lenders to ensure timely and accurate drawdowns, repayments and covenant requirements
  • Closely monitor invested portfolio for debt capacity and invested balance vs fund hard cap
  • Coordinate with Fund Administrator to calculate and record management fees in accordance with LPA and side letters
  • Assist in the determination of quarterly company valuations
  • Coordinate and manage the annual & interim audit with external auditors and Fund Administrator
  • Research technical accounting and taxation issues with team as needed
  • Build and implement process controls and efficiencies

Investor Relations

  • Manage investor capital activity processes, implementing tight review and oversight of all accounting information that is sent to investors and external parties
  • Along with Investment Manager and Fund Administrator, onboard new investors, ensuring proper compliance measures and internal tracking
  • Facilitate modifications to existing investor contact information with Fund Administrator
  • Work with Fund Administrator to issue capital statements, capital call notices and distribution notices to investors
  • Respond to operational investor queries, review administrator responses to investor queries, and address requests from investors’ auditors

Compliance and Other

  • Work closely with Chief Compliance Officer and CFO to establish, maintain and comply with all internal policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with compliance consultants to ensure completeness and accuracy of written internal policy and compliance manuals
  • Coordinate with compliance consultants to ensure that all Access Persons and Supervised Persons comply with reporting requirements
  • Periodically review ADV forms and Privacy Notices for accuracy and completeness
  • Work closely with compliance consultants to engage in annual audit of compliance practices
  • Ensure business continuity practices are maintained and followed; maintain updated central repository of contracts with Fund Administrator

Finance

  • Maintain and enhance financial reports and reporting tools for internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare and manage accuracy of NPS schedules and projections
  • Manage financial models designed to project fund activity, capital account balances and returns
  • Model “what if” scenarios with respect to partner allocation and return streams
  • Perform special projects as needed

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with 5+ years of relevant work experience in Private Equity or related field
  • Experience in music and/or music publishing preferred
  • Accounting experience required; CPA or MBA preferred
  • Ability to synthesize data and create executive-level management reports from scratch required
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with software technology and data manipulation
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time to prioritize tasks
  • Must be self-motivated with an intellectual curiosity
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
