Ultrasound Technician – Phoenix Vascular Access Office - AKDHC

The Ultrasound Technician conducts a variety of ultrasound tests, including renal ultrasounds, vessel mapping, and limited studies for our clinical patients that will require travel throughout the various office locations by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs a variety of ultrasounds to include renal ultrasounds with and without post-void residual.
  • Performs diagnostic vessel mapping for vascular access planning.
  • Performs vascular ultrasounds (limited studies).
  • Utilizes ultrasonic equipment standards to the profession to locate evaluate & record functional, pathological, anatomical data.
  • Prepares patient for medical procedure according to established guidelines.
  • Maintains accurate and complete medical records.
  • Complies with current OSHA guidelines.
  • Maintains patients' right to privacy following HIPAA guidelines.
  • Schedules patients for vessel mapping and vascular ultrasound procedures as directed.
  • Perform confirmation calls 24-48 hours prior to scheduled appointments & document the call in Athena.
  • Contact Patients that did not show for appointments to coordinate rescheduling or create tickler for a future appointment.
  • Create, modify, schedule from and monitor ticklers for vessel mapping and vascular ultrasound appointment types.
  • Updates and keeps current AKDHC EMR programs related to access information.
  • Monitor and optimize allotted time slots in all schedules utilizing the available programs/reports.
  • Work closely with Access Care Coordinators (ACCs) to ensure patients receive adequate follow up as indicated.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures and prioritize and complete day to day activities.
  • Keeps supervisor and team informed on any patient issues, and overall opportunities for improvement.


  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successful completion of an approved one-year program in Ultrasound Technology preferred.
  • Experience with GE, Sonosite, and Terasan preferred.

Computer Skills:

  • Knowledge of Medical Manager, Integrated Concepts Chart, and Doc Talk.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Current Basic Life Support
  • Successful completion of an approved one-year program in Ultrasound Technology preferred.
