Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas (GSSWT) is powered by more than 5,500 adult volunteers, and serves 14,500 girls in its 21-county area, including Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Dimmit, Edwards, Frio, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Kinney, Maverick, Medina, Real, Uvalde, Val Verde, Wilson and Zavala.

Girl Genius Tutoring Mentor
The Girl Genius Tutoring Mentor delivers the Girl Genius Tutoring after school program curriculum through customized lessons in math, reading and language arts as well as activities in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), creative arts, physical fitness and character development. The Girl Genius Tutoring Mentor serves as the girl leadership expert to advise and consult with the volunteers providing programs to girls and conduct public awareness and information activities related to programs and volunteering.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Delivers the structured Girl Genius Tutoring Program curriculum with designated core components to include healthy hearty meal, tutoring, enrichment activities, technology, and a healthy awareness activity.
Utilizes and is knowledgeable of interactive technology to include All-In-One Desktops, Smart Board, iPads, Kindles, and Mac Books as teaching tools.
Tutors and assists girls in Mathematics, Reading, and other homework.
Exhibits classroom management skills in an informal classroom setting.
Incorporates character development and teachable moments to girls daily.
Maintains daily sign-in sheets, program incentive plan, program registration packet for each girl, to include girl and adult assessments and surveys.
Attends scheduled Girl Genius Program after school field trips.
Assists with the analysis of program evaluations to ensure membership needs are being met, addresses issues and modifies or discontinues programs as needed.
Assists with outcome survey implementation.
Supports grant development and implementation.
Performs additional duties as assigned in support of the council’s mission and goals.
Bachelor's degree; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be proficient with computer and Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Outlook, and Word).
- Monday-Thursday 2:00pm - 6:30pm
- Some Friday's from 3:30pm - 5:00pm
