We’re hiring an Assistant Principal, Full time, Phoenix Metro Area, AZ.

The Assistant Principal will be responsible for providing leadership and supervision of all special education programs and related services for one school in the Phoenix Metropolitan area.  Duties will include collaborating with administrators in administering, planning, budgeting and coordinating all activities and programs pertaining to special education. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Master’s Degree in job-related area
  •  Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required. Must have leadership experience.
  • Principal Certificate
  • Fingerprint clearance card; criminal background investigation

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates communication among school personnel, students, and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.
  • Facilitates various meetings (e.g. curriculum, safety, site advisory, special district committees, staff development, etc.) for the purpose of coordinating agendas and ensuring that outcomes achieve school, district and/or state objectives.
  • Intervenes in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students and/or parents for the purpose of assisting students in modifying inappropriate behavior, developing successful interpersonal skills, and/or initiating disciplinary action.
  • Manages various school administrative functions (e.g. student disciplinary policy, school schedule, assigned teachers and personnel, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring district and site objectives are met, enforcing school, district and state policy and providing for safety and efficient school operations.
  • Prepares documentation (e.g. reports, correspondence, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
  • Presents information on various topics for the purpose of communicating information and/or gaining feedback.
  • Represents the school at various meetings (e.g. district, site, community, etc.) for the purpose of communicating and/or gathering information.
  • Supports Principal for the purpose of assisting with their job functions of maintaining overall school site operation.
  • Evaluates certified and classified personnel.
  • Manages academic assessment of learners and serves as a testing coordinator.
  • Manages and is accountable for the site’s instructional materials.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Skills required, but not limited to, for this position include:

  • Knowledge of current research in educational leadership and school reform
  • Knowledge of special education laws and programs
  • Ability to interpret and apply special education law, policies and procedures and provide information to school staff
  • In-depth understanding of special education teaching methods and techniques
  • Coordinate the implementation of special education programs with the maximum consideration of inclusion and least restrictive environment
  • Assist in difficult situations with students by facilitating meetings and problem resolutions with parents as well as staff
  • Conduct observations in order to aid in the diagnosis as well as the development of programming and instructional strategies
  • Develops and implements training opportunities and in-services for education staff, parents and administrators
  • Extensive knowledge in the primary disability category supporting
  • Well-developed understanding of the special education process

 

Other Functions:

  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
  • Other duties as assigned
