Description

The Information Security Specialist candidate will research and evaluate new concepts and processes to improve performance. Team member must be able to perform all tasks of lower level staff to assist more junior level technicians, specialist, and managers in their activities. The candidate will direct multiple teams through to project completion while overseeing and monitoring performance, and when required, takes steps to resolve issues.

Duties Include:

  • Prepare and maintain assessment and authorization packages to obtain approvals to operate IAW ICD 503, CNSS 1253 and NIST 800-53 Rev 4
  • Lead/support the quarterly Federal Information Security Management Act audits
  • Ensure that the architecture and design of DoD information systems are functional and secure 
  • Provide security subject matter expertise at all engineering, change, configuration control or equivalent meetings 
  • Assess threats to the environment  
  • Provide inputs on the adequacy of security designs and architectures 
  • Participate in risk assessment during the certification and accreditation process 
  • Ensure that the architecture and design of DoD information systems are functional and secure 
  • Design and develop IA or IA enabled products, interface specifications, and approaches to secure the environment, as needed
Required Skills

Education/Min Years Experience:
• High School/GED with 10 years experience or,
Associates with 8 years experience or,
Bachelors with 6 years experience or,
Masters with 4 years experience or,
PhD with 2 years experience.

• Experience preparing for and conducting command cyber readiness inspection self-inspections/audits audit activities associated with as needed
• Experience designing and developing IA or IA enabled products, interface specifications, and approaches to secure the environment
• Experience in lifecycle management and mitigation of security/cyber related incidents
• Experience implementing and managing a patch and vulnerability management and reporting program

• CISSP
• CISM
• ITIL Certification

Clearance:
Active US Government Security Clearance Required.
