Dynamic, pharmaceutical company located in North, NJ seeks a Sr. Director - Ethics & Compliance.  The salary is up to $235K with bonus and cash long-term incentive.

Primary Duties

The successful Sr. Director - Ethics & Compliance has responsibility to oversee the effective operation of the compliance program under the guidance of the Chief Compliance Officer. The Sr. Director - Ethics & Compliance is responsible for developing and recommending effective corporate compliance program structure, process and procedures and gaining alignment with the CCO and the Legal Department.  The position is responsible for managing the compliance team members to implement and execute on the compliance program initiatives, including maintaining the Risk Assessment and Mitigation Plan (RAMP), execution of the related work plan against the RAMP, creating, implementing and maintaining policies, procedures and controls, overseeing monitoring, investigations and partnering with leadership of the Company on effective correction and mitigation strategies.  The position also oversees State and Federal Transparency reporting responsibilities.  The Sr. Director - Ethics & Compliance is also responsible for working with the Company’s Corporate Training department to map out required Compliance training plan for employees and contractors and monitor (along with managers) completion of training requirements.  Additionally, the position proactively monitors high risk areas and evolving risk areas to make sure that the Compliance Program effectiveness is maintained.  Sr. Director - Ethics & Compliance also maintains reporting avenues for employees to have a means to raise issues and concerns without fear of retaliation and works with Legal Department to make sure that all such issues and concerns are adequately investigated and addressed.  The position also works with global compliance colleagues and legal colleagues to help ensure appropriate consistency throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage budget with guidance from the Chief Compliance Officer and also manage and develop the compliance team for maximum effectiveness and professional development
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and monitoring of the corporate compliance program, including providing advice and guidance on compliance-related issues
  • Oversee and/or provide training regarding compliance, ethical, and other issues
  • In conjunction with Internal Audits and other members of Compliance Department, monitor and audit compliance related issues
  • Oversee and coordinate investigations with Legal, as appropriate
  • Oversee compliance support for subsidiaries in Canada


  • Bachelors degree in related field, JD Preferred
  • 12+ years of experience in legal and/or compliance; preferably in pharmaceutical industry
  • Very strong knowledge of pharmaceutical industry
  • Knowledge of best practices regarding legal, regulatory and ethical issues (OIG, PhRMA, AMA, ACCME,FCPA)
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong management skills
  • Ability to influence and lead change throughout all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of international compliance issues
