Title: Manager, Agency & Escrow Auditor

 

Location: Columbus, MO (Fully in-office)

 

This is an individual contributor position which works under limited supervision of the Director Counterparty Risk Audit and is responsible for assessing the quality of title agencies through onsite meetings, transaction file reviews, agent audits and other Essent approval and monitoring procedures. This position will review the standards of practice of the agent to ensure protocols are within Essent’s risk tolerances and comply with federal and state laws regarding closing, title, and escrow management. This position plays a key role in risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and management. The position also supports the Director in analyzing and reviewing various risk indicators, performing escrow reconciliation reviews, agent score carding, organizing processes, and communicating timely and accurately within Essent Title Insurance Company.  Excel and PowerPoint skills are critical to the job function.

As a dynamic and resourceful professional, we will rely on you to perform the following duties:

  • Perform onsite reviews and audits of agencies. Review title policy and escrow files to oversee the proper issuance of title insurance products in accordance with guidelines. Communicate results internally and externally as appropriate leveraging the internal CRM tool. Ensure supporting documentation is properly processed and retained. 
  • Design and development of a quality assurance (QA) program to review agent transactional files on a periodic basis. Design QA checkpoints, internal and external coordination and reporting. 
  • Assist in the ongoing execution of agent monitoring protocols. This includes, but is not limited to, developing documentation of policies and procedures of the risk department and the audit function.  Work with compliance to document and understand mandatory onsite review requirements.
  • Perform risk-based assessment to determine the agents needing review.  Prepare and communicate the schedule of agent onsite reviews within the Risk team.
  • Lead the process to wind down an agent who has been terminated.  Work with the broader title team to document a template to ensure claim exposure is limited and all required termination procedures have bene completed.  Go onsite as necessary.  This includes but not limited to, escrow disbursements, reconciliation, policy issuance, etc.
  • Compile reports, presentations, and other visual materials to highlight the effects of risks and the proposed solutions. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

 

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or equivalent work experience required. 
  • 7 years of relevant title experience
  • Title insurance escrow and underwriting experience and real estate transactional background a plus. 
  • Knowledgeable in real estate closings, title insurance, escrow and underwriting audits, and ALTA Best Practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and planning skills, with strong attention to detail. 
  • Ability to productively interact with peers, customers, and management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite. 
  • Extended/overnight travel 1-2 times per month throughout the United States
  • Maintains flexible hours and work location. On call hours and travel to agent’s offices required.
