Job Description
Use CAE tools to provide design guidance for automotive heat exchangers to product development engineering. Optimize component design to achieve customer strength, durability and NVH targets.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Conduct pressure cycle, burst, thermal cycle and vibration durability analyses of heat exchangers to ensure they meet customer’s design targets. Analyses would focus mainly on the durability characteristics of the design.
  • Conduct structural / strength analyses at the attachment and bracketing locations for heat exchangers to ensure there is no expected damage or failures during assembly or installation into the vehicle.
  • Participate in internal or external program meetings with engineering and customers, technical design reviews or other discussions and review CAE results and conclusions.
  • Conduct CAE correlation studies in collaboration with engineering and testing operations.
  • Adhere to our coporate, department and CAE team organizational processes with respect to project tracking and report writing.

Degree Preferred and Experience
  • Ph.D. degree in structural finite element analysis with 5-10 years of experience in the field of fatigue and durability finite element analysis. Candidate should be capable to conduct described analyses immediately with minimal or no training or mentoring.

Desired Competencies, Experience, & Qualifications
  • Leadership/Managerial experience required for Manager opening
  • Familiarity with the operation and function of automotive heat exchangers (evaporator, heater core, radiator, condenser, etc.,), and fluid transport lines and hoses.
  • Have the ability to translate function, operation and customer test specifications into a CAE / virtual math model with appropriate initial and boundary conditions.
  • In-depth experience and expertise in the efficient utilization of one or more general purpose CAE pre/post-processor(s) and solver(s) (Abaqus, ANSYS, Optistruct and NASTRAN applications preferred).
  • Ability to collaborate and leverage an offshore, 2-person support team of modelers / meshers located at our overseas office.
  • Experience with Catia V5 CAD tool and basic Linux skills. Capable with one or more computer programming or scripting languages (i.e. Python, C, FORTRAN, etc.).
  • Experience in utilizing high performance computing systems for advanced CAE simulations.
