We need a SME to provide the expertise in how to classify and manage access to data at an enterprise scale. This resource will perform and document data classification, develop policies and procedures for access to data, establish a qualification and training program for personas (data stewards, dashboard developers, data source developers, report viewers, etc.), and continually educate on any new regulations that we must adhere to. 

This position can be worked remotely within the continental U.S.

What you'll be responsible for:
  • Create a data classification framework and perform data classification of warehouse data 
  • Creating a data governance model that ensures the data is secure and accessible when needed
  • Creating policies and procedures for data storage and access
  • Designing and/or conducting training on data management best practices to ensure the organization is aware of proper procedures for handling sensitive data
  • Designing and/or creating data governance documentation and ensuring all employees are trained on the new process
  • Developing and enforcing policies for management of data assets, security procedures, and privacy considerations
  • Formulate and Implement data governance strategies
  • Provides a formalized process for authorization for data access
  • May perform other job duties as assigned

What you'll need to have:
  • Six to nine years combined experience data quality, data classification, data security and access controls
  • At least two years of experience in data governance
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the various legislative acts and how they impact data
  • Must have a strong commitment to the ethical use of data
  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

What would be nice for you to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience with governing and securing data for both on-prem and cloud ecosystems
  • Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices
  • Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
  • Strong background in shared data, data warehouse design, build and management
  • Experience developing data governance framework for PowerBI and/or Tableau
  • Strong TSQL skills
  • Strong project management skills and proven ability to successfully manage projects and/or programs from inception to completion
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws
  • Familiarity with laws governing use and storage of PII and PCI data
  • Familiarity with data in a highly regulated industry of bank and financial data
  • Effective at building trust, respect, and cooperation among teams
