Hourly Rate: 17.30/hour

Position Summary:

This position will work a flexible schedule in order collaborate with and support Wraparound Care Coordinators to meet client needs. This position will link families to community resources and assist with mindshare referrals for formal service provision and provide education and support as needs are identified through Family Team Conferencing.  The Family Advocate will provide information, referrals, and assistance in locating appropriate community resources, childcare, specific needs, etc. The Family Advocate will apply knowledge of early childhood development to provide direct coaching and mentoring to clients while being flexible and empathetic to adapt to situation based upon each family's differences, problems, and needs.

Technical/Functional Expectations:

  1. Crisis Interventions-Essential Function: Provide crisis intervention linkages, referrals through consultation to ensure family support and placement stabilization in order to follow-up with emergency FTC for continued authorization.
  2. Flexible and 3rd Party Resources-Essential Function: Authorize service allocation, coordinate service delivery with providers and community resources in order to maximize service quality.
  3. Strength & Cultural Discovery-Essential Function: Conducts Strength & Cultural discovery to help family identify strengths and potential natural supports as well as to identify immediate needs and best resources to address these.
  4. Strength Based Advocacy-Essential Function: This position will work with and support the family and help them advocate for their needs and serve as an advocate for them.
  5. Drug Screening-Essential Function: Provide onsite substance abuse screening to families on an as needed basis.
  6. Provide education and Peer Support-Essential: This position will work with the family in the areas of nutrition, parenting, budgeting, housing, and maintaining a safe and appropriate home.
  7. Other duties as required: Job performance requires fulfilling other incidental or related duties as assigned, assisting and training others, and performing duties of higher rated positions from time to time for developmental purposes.

Business Experience:

  1. Microsoft office & SACWIS Computer Experience: This position will be responsible for entering information into FSFN and Mindshare and utilizing basic Microsoft office software.
  2. Valid Driver’s License & Appropriate Insurance-Essential: This position requires a valid driver’s license and appropriate insurance in accordance with Florida Statute for transporting children.
  3. 2+ years Direct Services Experience-Essential: This position will be providing direct services to children, youth or their families in their home and other locations as determined.
  4. Superior verbal and written communication skills: This position must effectively communicate verbally and in writing in order to address complex needs and safety concerns in a strength-based approach.
  5. Experience as a consumer or caregiver within the SOC: This is required in order to successfully advocate for families and to provide assistance with resource linkages.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma required.
  2. 2 to 5 years related experience required.
  3. Knowledge of early childhood development preferred.
