Minimum Starting Salary: $52,000/annually

Position Summary: The Behavioral Health Coordinator is responsible for providing coordination of behavioral health services for enrollees in the Child Welfare Specialty Health Plan for Sunshine Healthcare. This includes but is not limited to coordination of Multi-Disciplinary Staffings, ensuring children who require Suitability Assessments receive them in accordance with Florida Statute, provide clinical consultation and support and ensure funding authorization for children in STFC, STGC & SIPP levels of care are secured.

Technical/Functional Expectations:

  1. Care coordination – Essential Function:  Assess and assist children in out of home care and provide care coordination of needed behavioral health services. Educate caregivers regarding medications, routine medical care, how and when to contact the child’s Primary Care Physician.
  2. Service Referral and Identification – Essential Function:  Provide identification of needed or necessary services and compilation of documentation necessary to ensure provision, including service authorization.  Ensure consistent and ongoing collaboration with Sunshine Health with contacting the applicable caregiver and/or enrollee.
  3. Psychotropic Medication Coordination – Essential Function:  Work with medical providers, caregivers, and case management to ensure compliance with all psychotropic medication requirements.   Complete and ensure all appropriate paperwork is filed with the court.
  4. Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) – Essential Function:  Provide coordination and facilitation of Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings which are held in order to review behavioral health needs for children who are referred for behavioral health services.  
  5. Monthly documentation – Essential Function:  Ensure caregivers provide monthly documentation and document all required information into Florida Safe Families Network.  
  6. Quality Management – Essential Function:  Review case management reports/data to ensure all appropriate documentation is completed for all children on psychotropic medication.
  7. Comprehensive Behavioral Health Assessments (CBHA) – Essential Function:  Act as the Point of Contact for receiving, coordinating, and reviewing CBHA’s from Brevard Family Partnership.
  8. Other duties as required: Job performance requires fulfilling other incidental or related duties as assigned, assisting, and training others, and performing duties of higher rated positions from time to time for developmental purposes.

Business Experience:

  1. Three years Clinical Experience: This is preferred in order to meet the unique behavioral health needs of children being served in the Florida’s child welfare system of care.
  2. Strength Based Family Centered Practice Orientation: This is essential in order to effectively support the System of Care and its values.
  3. Strong Interpersonal, Presentation, and Organization skills: This is required in order to effectively partner with various stakeholders and agency staff and adequately train community stakeholders.
  4. At least three years Child Welfare Experience: This is required in order to effectively understand that improving the well-being of children in the child welfare system is community effort. 
  5. Valid Driver's License - Essential: This is required in order to travel throughout the county and other locations.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  1. Licensed or Licensure eligible preferred.
  2. Bachelors in social work or BA/BS in Human Services field required.
  3. 3 years of experience in child welfare preferred.
  4. Child Welfare Certification required.
