Position Summary: The Brevard C.A.R.E.S. Executive Director (ED) leads all administrative, fiscal, and programmatic activities of the prevention and diversion continuum of service delivery. The ED sets strategic direction, develops business plans, and providers leadership of a dynamic team providing a continuum of high-quality service prevention, diversion, and clinical services delivery. The ED is responsible for maintaining fidelity to the C.A.R.E.S. model and adherence to the mission and vision of the agency. The ED also pursues grants, donors and funding diversification efforts and is responsible for the achievement of performance measures, maintaining COA, collaborating with contractors, service providers and providing coaching, mentoring and professional development of staff.

Technical/Functional Expectations:

  1. Executive Leadership - Essential Function: Responsible for the operations of the organization, the delegation of responsibility within the organization and the establishment of formal means of accountability to meet all business objectives in a cost-effective manner.

  3. Strategic and Business Planning - Essential Function: This position will prepare, execute, and analyze strategic and business plans to track, communicate and report business objectives and results.
  4. Effective Communicator-Essential Function: Communicates and effectively represents the company to public officials, employees, community stakeholders, vendors, and other constituents in a diplomatic manner as required to establish and maintain the reputation of the company.
  5. Risk Management, Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement, Essential Function: Identifies, monitors, manages and mitigates potential risks. Evaluates consumer needs, satisfaction service gaps, outcomes, and areas of improvement to ensure quality service delivery and satisfaction.
  6. Staff Leadership-Essential Function: Plan performance expectations, monitor, and appraise staff member job results and performance to develop, counsel, coach, or discipline staff members.
  7. Operating Procedures and Governance Policies: Evaluates organization operations and establish internal controls to implement operating procedures and governance policies that enhance the organization's ability to achieve its objectives and follow Florida Administrative Code and Statutes.
  8. Customer Relationships: Make periodic visits, explore specific needs, and resolve problems to build and maintain client relationships.
  9. Leadership of Accreditation Process: This position will provide leadership of the Council on Accreditation (COA) process in Case Management, Intensive Case Management and Care Coordination and ensure compliance with all applicable COA standards.
  10. Mission Centered: Project management of overarching prevention, diversion, and clinical services activities.
  11. Other duties as required: Job performance requires fulfilling other incidental or related duties as assigned, assisting, and training others, and performing duties of higher rated positions from time to time for developmental purposes.

Business Experience:

  1. 5+ years’ senior /executive management exp. in Child Welfare: A minimum of 5 years senior or executive management is required to effectively direct strategic initiatives and day to day programmatic areas.
  2. Minimum of 3+ years managing a budget/over 2 million dollars: Fiscal management of this program is critical to the success of the program and to ensure adequate funding sources are available throughout the fiscal year.
  3. Minimum of 5+ years Supervisory experience: Strong supervisory skills are essential to effectively coach, mentor, and develop staff.
  4. Minimum 3+ years Family-Centered Practice Experience: Prior experience in family-centered planning or WRAP environment is critical to the success of this position to ensure that the program is family-driven, and consumers have voice, choice, and ownership.
  5. Valid Driver's License - Essential: A valid driver's license is required to attend meetings and other activities throughout the County and State.
  6. Superior written and verbal communication skills: Effective communication skills are essential to clearly and concisely articulate programs, proposals, write policies and respond to program inquiries in a professional manner.
  7. Collaborative, purposeful leadership style: A collaborative, purposeful leadership style is essential to foster and develop relationships and to build consensus among parties with conflicting positions and opinions.
  8. Computer literacy: Intermediate skill in Word, Excel, PowerPoint are required to provide professional presentations and executive summaries to the Senior Executive of Programs and C.A.R.E.S. BOD.
  9. Min. 3+ yrs. managing diverse funding streams/contracts/prog.: A minimum of 3 years managing diverse funding streams and multiple grants and contracts is required.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  1. BA/BS in human services related field required.
  2. MA/MS - Master’s Degree preferred.
  3. 5 to 8 years leadership and management related experience required.
  4. 8 to 10 years related experience preferred.
