POSITION SUMMARY / PURPOSE

The Program Manager will be involved in leading extensive coordination and management of project activities and facilitation of all internal and external communications for the assigned development programs involving electronics and mechanical hardware, web portal and smartphone application software of the system. This position serves as the main point of contact interfacing customer as well as various internal departments within the US and Japan to ensure program integrity.

KEY JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

General
  1. Understand the strategies and mid-term plan to align personal objectives.
  2. Represent our client and properly steer the team and program.  
  3. Support creation of an annual plan for the team and monitor the progress with KPIs. 
  4. Support creation of training plan for the team members and provide mentorship.
  5. Participate in management of output quality and performance of PM team.
  6. Support Create a fiscal year resource and budget plan based on the prospective projects and activities.
  7. Practice continuous improvement through close interactions with internal and external customers.
  8. Exercise leadership ability to inspire and engage both internal and external members involved in the projects.
  9. Engage with the team to successfully execute below tasks but not limited to:

<RFI stage>
1. Obtain customer RFI activity plan
2. Create RFI response schedule
3. Coordinate RFI kick off meeting with related entities
4. Assign roles and responsibilities
5. Track RFI response preparation progress
6. Coordinate customer presentation
7. Follow up action items after presentation
8. Confirm plans for RFQ with customer
9. Plan to prepare for RFQ stage
10. Manage and control whole RFI activity

<RFQ stage>
1. Obtain customer RFQ activity plan
2. Create RFQ response schedule
3. Coordinate RFQ kick off meeting with related entities
4.  Assign roles and responsibilities
5. Track RFI response preparation progress
6. Coordinate customer presentation
7. Follow up action items after presentation
8. Confirm plans for sourcing with customer
9. Manage and control whole RFQ activity

<Development stage>
1. Obtain key customer milestones
2. Create master timeline
3. Negotiate with related departments for timeline adjustment as needed.
4. Define project charter
5. Define SOW
6. Define tasks, roles, and responsibilities
7. Track task progress and open issues with measurable scale
8. Provide progress report to management
9. Manage and Track project budget
10. Place orders for samples when needed
13. Understand software development status for project control
14. Collect change request estimation/cost then answer to customer via Sales dept.
15. Report NA project status
16. Make/Control a report to internal and customer
17. Control Project health and report to customer if needed
18. Risk management with software management team
19. Plan and conduct general function check prior to sample deliveries to customer
20. Create function and limitation list for sample deliveries to customer

<Post launch stage>
  1. Closely work with Quality Assurance team to monitor field quality
  2. Coordinate troubleshooting in the field with related teams.

<Continuous>
1. Document meeting minutes
2. Create and maintain document system
3. Identify risk classification
4. Create visualization and monitoring system to check progress and risks
5. Conduct executive program status reporting and escalate risk items to management
6. Create visualization system for progress and risk monitoring and maintain the system
7. Document and verbal translation between English and Japanese
8. Support HR and administrative tasks as needed

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / LICENSE / CERTIFICATIONS
Requirements
  • BS Degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years in the program management or engineering disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product development for the automotive electronic components.
  • Strength in business intelligence, data analysis, quality analysis in hardware and software component development.
  • Familiarity with automotive (OEM) specifications, requirements, standards, and development milestones.
  • Experience in managing certification efforts for items such as CarPlay, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Android Auto, WiFi, USB, BT, FCC/IC, SXM, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Strength in negotiation.
  • Ability to effectively operate and communicate in a multi-cultural environment
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills
  • Experience in maintaining a quality system compliant with most recent automotive standards.
  • Proficiencies in Confluence/JIRA, MS Project.

Preferred
  • PMP certification.
  • MBA
  • Ability to speak Japanese is preferred but not required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
MATH ABILITY: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS: MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, Confluence/JIRA, VISIO,  Programming language (Java/Python)
OTHER: Ability of schematics reading, hardware troubleshooting, tests and measurements.  Ability to prepare and perform technical presentations to OEM's.
