JOB TITLE: Quality Control Inspector LOCATION: Phoenix, AZ REPORTS TO: QA/QC Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Inspector is responsible for the day to day operations of the following:
QA/QC department logs
Inspection and corrective action tracking
Trending logs
Conducting inspections of production activities
Supporting the ISO program per the Quality Managers direction
Hours: 6:00am to 2:30pm
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
At the beginning of each workday walk thru the degreasing area and perform visual and dimensional inspections of steel coils and then tag them in accordance with accepted or rejected tags. Upon completion of inspection contact production supervisor that’s coils have been inspected.
Work directly with Shop Foremen, Shop Leads, and Production Manager, to ensure that the inspection activities are completed in a timely manner.
Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of fabrication activities to report and follow up on unsatisfactory findings.
Any traveler that requires QC sign off should have a minimum of 5% inspection to verify dimensions.
Perform work in process (WIP) inspection and random final inspections on coils prior to shipment, inspection audit, workmanship, cleanness, and dimensions. These inspections should be recorded on the Inspection Log. This form is to be completed scanned and turned into QC Manager daily.
The Inspector will be the primary contact between Production and Engineering with respect to quality issues.
Review any QCN’s that may have been written during night shift and follow up as required.
All QC hold points that are to be witnessed or verified will be completed by the inspector. The production supervisor will schedule time for these inspections and will notify the inspector with as much notice as possible (prefer at least 24 hrs.).
Headers when received, must be inspected by QC prior to releasing to production. Sheet metal should be inspected by receiving 100% and 5% verified by QC, and the material test reports must be reviewed by QC prior to releasing to production.
Inspector will perform hydrostatic testing, and will witness the pneumatic testing.
Prepare required reports and quality records in compliance with established procedures.
Act as primary contact for UL, CSA and DCMA Inspectors for review of Quality Records and Document Control.
For special projects review Material Certifications for compliance to Drawings and Specifications prior to fabrication.
Maintain and review records and documents.
Approve all tube burst test and enter them in the data base.
Perform additional responsibilities, as directed by QA/QC Manager.
Create Travelers, ITP, review & approval.
Back-up inspection activities as required.
Assist QA/QC Manager with vendor quality management
Assist in resolving all quality issues.
Assist with ISO training, cost of quality and internal audits.
Assist with calibrations log and equipment.
Perform internal audits as scheduled
Assist in creating ISO procedures and work instructions.
Act as the QA/QC Manager’s Designee when required but with the following limitations:
Has no disciplinary authority
Does not participate in any department budgetary and scheduling decisions.
PHYSICAL/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Work will include office environment as well as exposure to the manufacturing facility. Inspector must be able to lift 50 lbs.
