Career Evolutions is searching for a Director of Risk & Analysis for a utility company in Phoenix, AZ. Full-time, direct-hire opportunity with compensation up to $165,000 + Bonus.

Job Title: Director of Risk & Analysis

Job Summary: You’ll be responsible for the Risk Management, Analysis, and Compliance functions related to the Supply and Trading activities. Major functions include risk management, derivatives, mark to market reporting, commercial systems, and monitoring compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops and maintains processes and procedures to calculate and report the Physical Commodity and Derivative Positions as well as the associated mark to market P&L of the company. Develops and maintains benchmarks and market prices used to measure trading profitability.
  • Provides daily summary level reporting to Traders and Senior Management.
  • Functions as the business owner of the Right Angle ETRM system with responsibility for work flows, processes and procedures, security roles, and enhancement initiatives.
  • Develops and manages the daily hedge recommendation process used by authorized trading personnel to execute future trades in compliance with Macro Hedge Strategy.
  • Manages the process of tracking, valuing, reconciling, and settlement of all derivative transactions with clearing brokers and OTC counterpart’s. 
  • Maintains the Commercial Risk Management Policy and ensures that any changes or deviations from the policy are properly approved by the Risk Management Committee (RMC) and documented.
  • Develops and implements procedures to ensure compliance with the Commercial Risk Management Policy and reports any violations to the RMC.
  • Coordinates the monthly Commercial Risk Management Committee meetings, setting agendas, and presenting issues needing attention to the Committee.
  • Takes the lead role for Supply and Trading in all audits, including internal, external, and SOX compliance.
  • Represents the Supply and Trading and Commercial Administration groups in all information system initiatives. 

Skills/ Requirements:                                                                                                                            
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • 10+ years of experience in increasingly responsible roles in financial analysis and risk management in the utility/energy business.
  • Experience with developing and generating mark to market P&L’s for both Physical Commodities and Derivative instruments is required
  • Experience working with a Trading and Risk Management system is required
  • Extensive experience in evaluation and preparation of financial models used for the quantification of risk and operational analysis is required with advanced knowledge of a multitude of areas such as logistics, terminals, product quality, quality control, operations and economics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with co-workers – customers and executive management to ensure strategic organizations goals and objectives are met.
