Career Evolutions is searching for a Director of Accounting for a fast-growing CPG company headquartered in Scottsdale, AZ. Full-time, direct-hire opportunity with compensation up to $120,000 + Bonus.

Job Title: Director of Accounting

Job Summary: You will oversee the domestic payroll, general ledger, accounts payable processes and will be responsible for managing the inter-company transactions that flow throughout the company. You will primarily be responsible for the accurate and timely completion of the monthly financial close by planning, coordinating and working with employees at various levels and in varying functions of the company. You will also be responsible for maintaining data integrity in the financial systems along with working with already established internal controls while engaging in continuous process improvements that will enhance the overall functionality of the department and team. 

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop the employees of the domestic financial shares services unit; execute back-up and succession plans for key roles.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate all day to day domestic accounting operation functions for areas such as fixed assets, prepaid assets and accruals, royalties and licensing, rebates, self insurance, stock-based compensation, payroll, cash,  and allowances and reserves.
  • Review and post journal entries and review all reconciliations
  • Provide oversight to the domestic payroll department, general ledger department, and the accounts payable departments.
  • Manage the inter-company transaction process
  • Build strong relationships with internal customers in order to become a trusted business partner.
  • Manage the domestic month-end close process.  Assure adherence to US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.  Work closely with other departments to ensure all financial information entered into the ERP system is accurate and timely.
  • Analyze financial information, collect information, call attention to trends and report on variances
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to simplify, standardize and streamline financial shared service activities. 
  • Build and maintain a superior control environment by implementing best practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements, including related disclosures and footnotes
  • Review contracts/agreements to ensure proper accounting treatment and payments are made in accordance with the terms
  • Liaison with external audit teams to ensure timely delivery of audit requests 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance, CPA and MBA preferred
  • Hands-on experience preparing financial statements, forecasts, budgets and financial reports
  • Experience building and managing an accounting/finance department
  • Experience implementing integrated software systems, dashboards and internal controls
  • Excellent leadership skills in creating analytical tools, as well as key ratios and metrics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
