(PART-TIME TEMPORARY)

Must have the physical, developmental and mental ability to perform job tasks, work efforts, responsibilities and duties of the job illustrated below:
 
MAJOR FUNCTION
Intermediate level technical and creative work planning, coordinating, hosting, directing and producing television programs for government access channel. The employee may also provide programming support including, but not limited to on-air scheduling with Cablecast software; providing weekly TV guide scheduling to cable companies; obtaining third party shows for air by downloading, converting, exporting and entering shows into the PGTV system.
 
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
Under direction, employee works in accordance with government access television standards of producers and sometimes directs and/or assists the activities of lower level production personnel and interns. Exercises reasonable initiative and independent judgment in the professional and technical aspects of program production. Exercises tact and courtesy when providing technical assistance and advice to personnel and officials regarding programming ideas. Work is of more than average physical and mental difficulty and includes all aspects of television production. Must be able to work in a high-stress environment with multiple high-priority deadlines and manage simultaneous activities for clients of varying levels of importance.
  • Procures, produces, schedules, directs, hosts (on camera), edits (Adobe Premiere) and programs television shows and public service announcements for telecast.
  • Produces telecasts of public meetings and public information programs describing the services or activities of various county departments and agencies.
  • Produces, directs, and operates equipment for live and taped remote television productions. Coordinates with event planners to ensure best use of equipment and personnel resources.
  • Works in conjunction with county staff to prepare public information programs.
  • Sets up public address/microphone systems at county functions.
  • Maintains effective working relationship with elected officials, county staff, other governmental entities, education professionals, and general public.
  • Procures information for community bulletin board.
  • Identifies and recommends resource needs to accomplish productions.
  • Operates traffic functions in master control for live and pre-recorded programming switching, including encoding and quality control of video and audio signals.
  • Coordinates with county Communications Specialists to ensure maximum exposure for high-profile projects.
  • Provides support for on-air scheduling with Cablecast software.
  • Performs related work as required.
 
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
 
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must be able to work nights and weekends and travel when necessary. Must have knowledge of safety and occupational hazards, such as operating television equipment on or around roadways, electrical equipment and in county vehicles, aircraft and watercraft. Must be able to perform in all weather conditions, lift and transport 45 lbs., bend, stoop, sit or stand for long periods of time and drive from location to location. Must have visual acuity. Demonstrated working knowledge of television production equipment, non-linear editing software (Adobe Premiere), directing, audio, word processing and scripting programs, graphics, traffic and automated playback. Must possess interviewing skills and have experience hosting/reporting on-camera.

Work with limited supervision on assigned tasks.

 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 
Graduate of an accredited two year college or university with major course work in communications, television, public relations or a closely related field and two (2) years’ experience in television production.
 
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment within this classification.
 
A comparable amount of related training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
 
May be required to work flexible schedules outside the normal routine; evening and weekend productions are typical requirements.


JOB LOCATION:  Communications , Bartow, FL
 
WORK SCHEDULE:  20-30 Hours Weekly (Various Days)
 
HIRING RATE:  $14.00-$17.00 Hourly
