Due to our exceptional growth and success, we are recruiting for a well-qualified Reimbursement Specialist to join our team in Norfolk, VA!

Position Summary:
 
This position contacts insurance payors to obtain payments on outstanding balances.  Position researches and resolves aged account receivables and takes appropriate actions to maximize collections and achieve departmental goals in an appropriate, professional and timely manner according to HCP guidelines.
 
Roles & Responsibilities:
 
  • Research, appeal, and resolve claim rejections and underpayments according to established HCP guidelines
    • Adjust accounts as appropriate
    • Initiate refund requests as necessary
    • Work closely with facilities, teammates, and other customers to enhance claim resolution
  • Provide support to other areas (including Cash Posting, Patient Collections, Authorization and Verification, Front End Billing) as needed
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive understanding of assigned payor billing and payment rules and regulations
  • Maintain confidentiality of all company and patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and HCP/BioScrip Policies
  • Provide updates to supervisor regarding changes, observations, and opportunities for improvement
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned include but are not limited to:
    • Work overtime with little or no notice as needed
    • Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed
    • Know, understand, and follow teammate guidelines, employment policies, and department or company procedures
    • Complete special assignments involving A/R research and resolution
  • Consistent, regular, punctual attendance as scheduled is an essential responsibility of this position
Qualifications (Required):
 
Education & Training:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
 Experience:
  • Minimum of one (1) year’s medical insurance follow up and collections experience required
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook required; intermediate proficiency in all HCP and BioScrip billing software required within 90 days of hire or position change
