We currently have an opening for a Project Engineer in our Controls Data Management Department in Houston, Texas.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and lead efforts in preparing and presenting complex ideas, design concepts, proposals, procedures, project and design reviews.
• Act as a subject matter expert within a functional group and as an integral part of project execution and delivery.
• Properly identify and manage priorities.
• Analyze and interpret data independently.
• Anticipate potential problems and take preventative action.
• Guide and mentor others.

Main Tasks

• Utilize knowledge of applicable industry standards and customer requirements to identify, design and qualify equipment to meet a project scope of work.
• Analyze project specific requirements to provide a complete controls solution and design/configure equipment to provide a system level solution.
• Work with clients in understanding their needs and managing their expectations within a project scope of work.
• Manage development of product documentation packages and engineering change orders.
• Support project management in development of engineering estimates for quotations, project schedules, milestones, risk factors, change order process and deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Industrial Engineering with 5 years experience designing and testing hardware and software for remote monitoring and control applications using API and international codes, MMS and client specifications, and utilizing engineering data management software.
• Programming experience in C/C#, VB Script, Visual Studio, .NET and database management using SQL 2005/2008 structure; applying knowledge of industrial electrical standards such as NEC, IEC, IEEE, API and ISO to codify software for use in system level designs; applying knowledge of Human Machine Interface s (HMI) to design and configure software to communicate with control hardware via transmission across power-on-comms or fiber optic networks; utilizing standard digital communication protocol including ModBus, CANbus , OPC and ControlNet over multiple physical layers such as RS-485, Ether net and fiber
• Applying knowledge of valve control and industrial instrumentation including Pressure, Temperature and Flow transmitter technologies and applications, and analog signal transmission via current and voltage methods
• Reading and understanding electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, one line diagrams, general arrangement, assembly drawing s and process flow diagrams; performing safety rated system (SIL) design and application including reading and understanding cause and effect charts.
