Description
This position of Electrician Supervisor is within the Maintenance & Operations Section, Electrical and Electronic Unit in the Engineering Department of the Greater Los Angeles Healthcare Service in the West Los Angeles Campus. This is a supervisory position and you must have knowledge of the NEC, JCAHO and Environment of Care Standards. You will provide guidance to subordinates in applying proper procedures. Your duties also include: · Being able to maintain, repair, replace and troubleshoot a wide variety of complex equipment and systems such as, complex electrical and electronic systems · Advise engineers and consultants as to existing systems and potential upgrades to them and complying with all regulatory requirements including Joint Commission, NEC, NFPA and various local rules and regulations. · Have the ability to lead employees of the Electrical Unit and manage and direct corrective actions in response to electrical power outages. · Have a working knowledge of proper troubleshooting techniques and the ability to read building prints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals. · Lay out jobs and install complete power and lighting systems. · Obtain and use accurate readings from test equipment such as volt meters, ammeters, ohmmeters, watt meters, meggers, phase rotation meters, and power analyzers. · Have complete knowledge of hand and power tools, such as drill motors, core drills, hydraulic benders, cable pullers, and knockout punches for example; boom trucks, scissor lifts and folk lifts. · Must have a sufficient knowledge of the nurse call system, fire alarm system and other electronic equipment that he/she can effectively manage their operation. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM ***RELOCATION EXPENSES AND/OR INCENTIVES ARE NOT AUTHORIZED***

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT for this position is: ABILITY TO SUPERVISE AS AN ELECTRICIAN SUPERVISOR

Your background must demonstrate expert experience in the supervision of the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting of complex electrical or electronic systems. You must be able to troubleshoot and read building prints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals. Experience: ability to supervise others in order to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such in your resume.

For this position, the job element method is used to match what you, the applicant, can do against what the work calls for. Your knowledge, skills and abilities will be compared to the knowledge, skills and abilities (called job elements) needed for success. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element (WG-2 and higher only; screen-outs are not applicable to WG-1). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT AND WORK CONDITIONS: This position requires walking, bending, sitting, crawling and climbing. Incumbent must have good vision, with or without glasses. This position requires working overtime, in uncontrolled environments, from ladders and rooftops. Occasionally incumbent is subject to very uncomfortable and possibly dangerous working conditions and exposure to hazards normally encountered in the hospital trades and various types of infections.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Applicants will be ranked based on three quality groups, as follows:
•Best Qualified - applicants possessing knowledge, skills and abilities that substantially exceed the minimum qualifications of the position and who are highly proficient in all requirements of the job and can perform effectively in the position;
•Well Qualified - applicants possessing knowledge, skills and abilities that exceed the minimum qualification of the position and who are proficient in most of the requirements of the job;
•Qualified - applicants possessing knowledge, skills and abilities that meet the minimum qualifications of the position.

After the vacancy announcement closes, reviewed applications are evaluated against the questionnaire responses and placed in the appropriate quality group.
