Santa Barbara Co, California – Vandenberg Space Force Base
Our client has an immediate need for an experienced Network Engineer, strong in Route/Switch engineering, with an active Secret clearance, to work on-site at the Vandenberg Space Force Base, formerly Vandenberg AFB.
Your Responsibilities will likely include the following;
- Utilizing your strong understanding of Layer 2/3 Engineering and Provisioning and carrier ethernet architecture to develop network solutions based on customer requirements including growth plans, capacity constraints, new features, and technologies.
- Creating complex step-by-step engineering methods of procedure to migrate, reconfigure, and modernize the entire customer's networks.
- Delivering OSS, NMS, CES solutions, Complex DCN designs, software customization framework, and development plans.
- Provide timely support to customers for questions/issues and communicate project status.
- Escalate problems to the engineering team leader.
- Proactively pursue methods or solutions that will improve the customer network and/or engineering processes.
- Validate project input and create the Detailed Network Design (DND) that contains all the required settings and configurations needed to properly provision and turn up the customer’s equipment.
- Act as a key technical interface to the customer, plans, and engineers, and support network solutions/migration, including weekly status reporting.
Your background will include the following;
- An active DOD Secret clearance (Must have).
- Working knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, or related vendor equipment.
- Expert knowledge in working with Layer-2, and Layer-3 protocols.
- BS degree in Telecommunications, Networking, or a similar technical field of study.
- Security+ or any equivalent DoD 8570 (IAT Level II or higher).
- A diverse Telecommunications background, with hands-on technical experience, and organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Able to travel to other locations, travel time up to 25%.
- Knowledge and experience with Layer-0 and Layer-1 are preferred.
- CCNA or equivalent Certification, Project+, ITIL, Scrum master, or equivalent project management certifications are nice to have.
- Current or Prior experience knowledge with Ciena Product Family a plus.
