Optical DSP Systems Engineer

Alpharetta, Georgia, Hybrid Role (2-3 days in the office)

Are you interested in working with the #1 technology company supporting DSP-assisted coherent optical modems, combining leading-edge technologies and advanced modulation formats to deliver best-in-class performance, reach, and data rates?
Do you want to work for one of the largest firms responsible for the optical transport networks at the core of telecommunication infrastructure?
Do you want to join a team tasked with developing the architecture and coordinating modeling efforts, code reviews, and integration as well as coordinating firmware feature roll-out, firmware verification, performance optimization, and robustness testing?
Do you want to leverage your experience in providing field support, root-cause analysis, running investigations, and problem-solving to alleviate complex performance issues?

If the answer to these questions is “Yes!” We need to hear from you for immediate consideration.

@Orchard LLC has been retained by one of the most important technology companies you’ve ever heard of. They are responsible for the underlying networks supporting many of the innovations that wow us (driverless cars), and those we now take for granted (the ability to mobile stream your favorite show), as well as critical infrastructure that keeps us safe and serves critical missions. They are committed to constant innovation and leveraging the leading edge of technology to develop solutions for clients and enhance performance.

As the Senior Principal level Optical DSP Engineer you will.

  • Be responsible for identifying and fixing missing specifications through simulations, lab testing, and consulting with PLM and systems teams.
  • Co-architect and coordinate modeling efforts, code reviews, and integration, as well as coordinate firmware feature roll-out, firmware verification, performance optimization, and robustness testing.
  • By leveraging your experience and expertise, you will provide field support, offer failure root-cause analysis, oversee investigations, and problem-solve to alleviate complex performance issues.
  • You will also coach and support both junior and experienced DSP designers and have the opportunity for significant career growth within a technical environment.

Your background will include.
  • Graduate or Post-Graduate degree in Physics or Engineering with a focus on Digital Hardware, a bachelor's degree with greater than 10 years of directly relevant experience will be considered.
  • Programming skills: MATLAB and C++ are essential.
  • Extensive complex debugging and problem-solving skills are necessary.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an ESD-protected lab environment and familiarity with standard lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, network analyzers, power supplies, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Demonstrated experience with SystemC, CatapultC, or Verilog is strongly preferred. If you do not have this experience a willingness to learn CatapultC and/or similar hardware system design languages is essential.
