Position Summary:  American Fast Freight, a subsidiary of Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation (OLT), is recruiting for a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor in Anchorage, AK for the domestic freight forwarding businesses of Alaska. OLT is privately held and one of the top 100 US third-party logistics companies with operations across the US, Europe and Asia.  The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is a working heavy duty mechanic while managing all day-to-day activities associated with maintaining the company fleet. This position oversees all shop personnel and allocates all work assignments and scheduling. Substantial knowledge of heavy & medium trucks, semi-trailer, liftgate and forklift repair and maintenance is required.  The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is given a wide degree of latitude to accomplish positive goals while drawing upon their extensive past employment experiences and sound judgement. Ensures all equipment is maintained according to company and DOT requirements.  Reports directly to the Terminal Manager.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform semi-trailer maintenance and structural repair.

  • Managing the trailer inspections and repairs on 360 plus OTW trailers and a small fleet of locally assigned equipment.

  • Managing the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and/or repairs on a fleet of 38 industrial forklifts.

  • Update and record trailer status based on pre-trip and maintenance repair reports in the company trailer tracking system.

  • Provide the warehouse and dispatch departments with trailers when requested.

  • Select, coordinate and document vendor repairs for equipment and inspect repairs upon return to confirm completion.

  • Manage parts inventories, ordering and costs.

  • Assess damaged trailers and coordinate for bids and TOTE claim submissions as necessary.

  • Prepare newly received equipment for use, to include decal installations.

  • Provide estimates for large expenditure items requiring procurement.

  • Ensure required certifications are maintained and current.

  • Coordinate and facilitate materials for specific fabrication requests.

  • Represent the maintenance shop in Safety Committee discussions.

 

Required Experience and Abilities:

  • Must have had experience managing a fleet shop and employees.

  • Must possess a high school diploma, GED or higher.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Ability to read and analyze spreadsheets. 

  • Must have extensive knowledge of the trucking industry with emphasis on semi-trailer maintenance and structural repair.

  • High level of forklift maintenance knowledge.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with associates, vendors and management.

  • Strong verbal and written skills.

  • Knowledge of applicable DOT, OSHA, EPA, and other government regulatory standards.

  • CDL Class A license a plus.

  • Must be able to carry tools and products of 50 lbs. or more up to 25 feet in distance without the assistance of mechanical hardware, and also lift 25+ lbs. above your head.
