Position Summary

American Fast Freight, Inc., a subsidiary of Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation (OLT), requires a high caliber Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Analyst to support the Controller with month forecasts, annual budgets, operating plan variance analysis and special projects for the domestic freight forwarding businesses. The ideal candidate will provide financial consulting and strategic support to senior management including preparation of management and financial presentations, capital expenditure analysis, industry/peer group comparisons, new business opportunities, acquisition analysis and other projects requested by senior management.  This function acts as the analytical engine of the company to provide insights and support optimal business decision making.  The ideal candidate is a self-motivated finance professional who can demonstrate leadership qualities, attention to detail and who is proficient in the application and use of technology.  OLT is privately held and one of the top 100 US third-party logistics companies with operations across the US, Europe and Asia.

Essential Duties / Functions

  • Assist in preparation of financial reports by collecting, formatting, analyzing, and explaining information, including monthly management and operations presentations
  • Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditures
  • Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance
  • Develop and manage budgeting, financial forecasting and modeling tools to support operational and strategic initiatives
  • Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes
  • Perform ad hoc business analysis as needed, including: research, presenting alternative strategies to current plans, modeling impact of various business decisions and valuation of potential mergers and acquisitions (M&A)
  • Ad-hoc reporting, special projects, and other analyses as required
  • Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Accounting, Finance or relevant field of study from a four-year accredited college/university is required; MBA or equivalent post-graduate degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of financial analysis experience including budgeting, forecasting, planning and financial reporting
  • Strong understanding of P&L concepts and management accounting principles; M&A experience is a plus
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated and able to meet deadlines
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills with proven reporting and analytics experience
  • Superior problem-solving skills with an ability to think “outside the box”
  • Clear and concise written and oral communication skills
  • Able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, across multiple departments and geographies, and interact positively with outside parties
  • Transportation or freight industry experience is a plus

Location/Travel Requirements

This position is located in Fife, Washington and may require minimal travel.
