Position Summary

American Fast Freight, Inc., a subsidiary of Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation (OLT), requires a high caliber Accounting Manager to support the Controller in planning and directing the financial accounting and reporting for the domestic freight forwarding businesses. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated finance professional who can demonstrate leadership qualities, attention to detail and who is proficient in the application and use of technology.  OLT is privately held and one of the top 100 US third-party logistics companies with operations across the US, Europe and Asia.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting, general ledger, accounts payable, budgeting and forecasting
  • Recruits and hires accounting and financial staff and conducts performance evaluations
  • Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff

 

Essential Duties / Functions

  • Responsible for reviewing all month end journal entries, including accruals, amortization and depreciation; review/post any correcting entries
  • Ensure general ledger balance sheet accounts are reconciled each month, including multiple bank accounts and intercompany ledger accounts
  • Review draft financial statements, operations reviews and ad hoc reporting for final review by Controller
  • Review variance analyses for the income statement and balance sheet
  • Assist in preparation of the annual budget and periodic operating forecasts
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Oversee tasks for annual financial audit, including review of audit schedules and related income tax schedules as requested by outside CPA firm
  • Assist in supervision, training and mentorship of accounting team personnel
  • Ad-hoc reporting, special projects, and other analyses as required
  • Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Accounting, Finance or relevant field of study from a four-year accredited college/university is required
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ prior supervisory experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area, with proven experience as Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor or Finance Manager
  • Transportation or freight industry experience is a plus
  • Detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated and able to meet deadlines
  • Highly skilled in general accounting, analysis, account reconciliation, month-end closing and financial reporting
  • Proficient with accounting software; experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and Management Reporter would be a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, vlookup and if/sumif functions.
  • Superior problem-solving, management and supervisory skills
  • Clear and concise written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional understanding of GAAP while staying current in all accounting related principles
  • Supervisory or leadership experience is a plus
  • Able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, across multiple departments and geographies, and interact positively with outside parties
  • CPA license is a plus

Location/Travel Requirements

This position is located in Fife, Washington and may require minimal travel.
