Description

This is a full-time contract/consulting position with Concordis. In addition to the full transparency of knowing the bill rate to the end client, you will receive:

Position

  • Evaluate the impact of system noise on the WLAN 802.11abgn/ac and proprietary wireless radios
  • Automated TIS measurements in Bluetest reverberation and Satimo chambers, calibrating test systems
  • Qualify various EMI gasketing and shielding solutions to mitigate noise
  • Disassemble prototype products, change out various internal components, find noise contributors
  • Experiment and make hardware modifications to find and eliminate RF noise issues, e.g. copper tape, soldering, design of experiments, etc
  • Collect data on multiple prototypes to get statistical desense of population
  • Work with automation engineer to automate various types of manual tests
  • Use internal and external automated software programs for data collection
  • Automated (and manual) near-field probing

Skills and Experience

  • Hands-on experience with RF equipment, cables, connectors, and antennas
  • Spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, measurement antennas, and reverb or anechoic chambers
  • CMW500 or other signaling test equipment
  • Take apart and reassemble consoles, install EMI gaskets, inspect motherboard, chassis, and other components
  • Ability to organize and collect data for complex configurations of test conditions and DUTs, and communicate exact results to team
  • Run commands and automated tools that require basic cmd usage
  • Understanding of wireless system, link budget, TRP and TIS, noise figure, antenna gain and pattern, impedance matching, s-parameters, spurious emissions, shielding, near-field vs far-field
  • Flexible to handle last-minute test needs multi-task multiple requests

    GENERAL 
  • BS in EE or related, experience desired
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of Visual Basic or C/C++.
  • Demonstrates strong design and/or test skills.
  • Demonstrates managing through ambiguity, and technical problem solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, leadership, verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Hands-on experience in the development of high-volume consumer electronic product is desired.
  • Demonstrated ownership of multiple  sub-systems and/or a complete simple product (Simple = Mouse or iPod shuffle) and/or experience launching multiple moderately complex to complex consumer electronic products: Moderately Complex = Smart TV/DVD, Complex = smart phone/Xbox.
  • Demonstrated system engineering ownership of a moderately complex to complex product - Moderately Complex = Smart TV/DVD, Complex = smart phone/Xbox and/or Hands-on experience launching multiple complex consumer electronic products - Complex = Smart Phone/Xbox.

Design verification activities to design quality into our products. Activities include develop and execution test plans and procedures. Perform functional, stress, system, and other types of testing.  Identification of test tool requirements, and participation in specification and design reviews.  Must be able to execute tests with little to no supervision.  Find complex bugs, root cause and track them while recording and informing others of all appropriate and relevant info.
