Our client, an experienced banking provider, is seeking a VP, Compliance and BSA Officer with a desire to help grow their business and make a direct impact to the organization and their team. VP, Compliance and BSA Officer
The Compliance and BSA Officer is responsible for the administration of the Bank’s Compliance, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and Customer Identification programs under the guidance of the Chief Risk Officer. This position evaluates internal processes and collaborates with process owners to develop and implement procedures and controls that align with organizational efficiency, risk mitigation objectives, and industry-leading practices. This position is required to be fully knowledgeable and skilled in all pertinent regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understands and maintains proficient knowledge of government banking regulations with particular emphasis on consumer protection compliance, Bank Secrecy Act, AML, OFAC, USA Patriot Act and related regulations;
- Serves as a key contributor to the implementation of the bank’s risk and compliance system;
- Uses excellent communication skills in order to influence a wide range of internal audiences including respective product, function and executive management partners;
- Oversees the production of key reporting activities and drives the execution on monthly and quarterly risk reporting and board reporting packages;
- Partners with deposit, lending, and treasury divisions to assist with federal and state regulation compliance;
- Researches and interprets existing and emerging regulations and makes procedural change recommendations;
- Oversees all aspects of bank-wide Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC, and Customer Identification Programs;
- Reviews deposit, lending, and treasury marketing materials to ensure adherence to all applicable regulations;
- Assists business units in the development of policies, procedures, and training, as needed to comply with state and federal regulations;
- Performs regulatory research in response to business unit compliance inquiries;
- Manages the CTR and exempt persons filings process;
- Develop and oversee an effective process for customer due diligence, customer risk rating and enhanced due diligence for higher-risk customers;
- Works with business units to investigate suspicious transactions;
- Works with the CRO to prepare and submit suspicious activity reports;
- Conducts compliance and BSA-related training for business units;
- Assists business units in performing risk assessments;
- Ensures consistency of standards, the appropriate level of rigor and timeliness of risk management activities;
- Performs analysis of BSA related data to draw conclusions about the level of compliance throughout the organization;
- Assists CRO with the maintenance of bank policies and procedures;
- Makes compliance-related recommendations to CRO and senior management when appropriate;
- Partners with business units on the implementation of new regulations and major regulatory changes;
- Assists in the compilation, maintenance, and analysis of lending data for HMDA, CRA and Fair Lending record keeping and reporting;
- Identifies and professionally escalates matters requiring management attention;
- Assists in compilation of necessary information, work papers and other documents for audits and examinations.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience as a BSA/AML Officer, Compliance Manager, Risk Manager or similar function in a financial institution;
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline strongly preferred; Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification preferred;- Expert Knowledge of FFIEC Examination Manual relative to AML, KYC, CIP, etc.; Expert Knowledge of USA PATRIOT Act and recent related laws and regulations;- Ability to problem-solve for a variety of compliance and business issues within pressure and time-sensitive periods; Ability to effectively communicate all levels of bank management, including executive team;- Experience interpreting and presenting BSA/AML reports and using data analytics tools such as Cognos;- Demonstrated ability to design, implement and monitor internal controls;- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to conduct training, develop policies and procedures, and respond to inquiries and problems.Benefits:
