Description

We are now taking applications/resumes for EXPERIENCED Ship Fitters for the Berwick and surrounding area.  Duties/Responsibilities may/may not be limited to the following:

  • MUST have experience with SHIP FITTING
  • MUST have supply own torch (Harris) with propane tip
    • MUST have experience with washing with a torch
  • Experience with welding is preferred, but not necessary
    • Must be able to pass 3G & 4G test
  • Required Skills:
    • Excellent math skills with ability to efficiently read a tape measure
    • Excellent problem solving skills
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Demonstrate strong work ethic
    • Demonstrate consistency in quality of work
  • Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Ideal candidate will be laying out and fabricate metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, and braces them in position within hull of ship for riveting or welding:
    • Ideal candidate will be laying out position of parts on metal, working from blueprints/templates and using scribe and/or handtools.
    • Locates and marks reference lines, such as center, buttock, and frame lines.
    • Positions parts in hull of ship, assisted by RIGGER.
    • Aligns parts in relation to each other, using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, wedges, and mauls.
    • Marks location of holes to be drilled and installs temporary fasteners to hold part in place for welding or riveting.
    • Installs packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members, such as doors, hatches, brackets, and clips.
    • May prepare molds and templates for fabrication of nonstandard parts.
    • May tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding.
    • May roll, bend, flange, cut, and shape plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts, using shop machinery, such as plate rolls, presses, bending brakes, and joggle machines.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 LBS
    • Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders to complete tasks.
  • Must be able to provide own PPE (hard hat, steel toes, safety glasses, gloves.)
  • MUST be able to pass drug screen
  • MUST have reliable transportation
  • Pay:
    • $22.00-$24.00
    • Weekly Pay
    • Pay Schedule: Monday - Sunday
  • Schedule:
    • 10-12 Hour Days
    • Monday - Friday
    • Weekends (as needed)
  • Duration of Job: Full-Time (Base on Job Performance)
