Summary:  Hawaiian Ocean Transport, a subsidiary of Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation (OLT), is recruiting for an Operations Manager for the domestic freight forwarding businesses of Hawaii. OLT is privately held and one of the top 100 US third-party logistics companies with operations across the US, Europe and Asia.  With minimal supervision, the ideal candidate will establish productivity and maintain the operational functions of the Kapolei dock while achieving effective and efficient service to our customers with a focus on quality, productivity, safety and loss.

 

Work Schedule:  As assigned by the Terminal Manager. Work schedules may vary Sunday through Friday. Work start times may vary to meet customer demands. The necessity for working overtime hours may occur.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the dock supervisory and lead positions ensuring day to day operations are efficient and effective with a focus on quality, productivity, safety, and loss prevention.
  • Manages general facility upkeep and cleaning regiment
  • Executes the hiring process for warehouse and driver departments, manages all policy and process adherence measures, as well as disciplinary action as needed and coaching opportunities
  • Open and closes the facility, securing the alarm and troubleshooting and alarming faults.
  • Investigates and resolves matters of significance on behalf of the company; leads investigations for complex inquiries, works closely with our Claims department imitating programs to reduce claims exposure
  • Plans, schedules and manages the daily workforce activity within the warehouse operation to increase efficiencies and lower cost.
  • Manages the freight on the floor process, troubleshoots recurring issues to minimize corrections and freight left behind
  • Enforce compliance and understanding of all company policies, procedures, and safety rules.
  • Manages and is accountable for all administrative processes related to the dock operations, such as receiving and loading documentation and administrative SOP’ ensuring it is executed accurately and timely
  • Other duties as directed by the Terminal Manager

Education/Experience:  A minimum of 2 years supervisory or management experience.

 

Language Ability:  Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Ability:  Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:  Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:  Microsoft office products, inventory programs and ability to learn and adapt to new software programs.
