Position Summary:  Supervise, lead and assist in the daily operations of the warehouse.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Supervise and lead the warehouse teams to receive, record, process, and plan load out activities.
  • Supervise the loading team to ensure proper loading.
  • Supervise the receiving team to ensure that exceptions are taken at the time of receipt.
  • Supervise the processing team to ensure the correct dimensions, weight, and hazmat requirements are applied.
  • Assist in supervising the refrigerated team to ensure temperature control and proper handling.
  • Opens and/or closes the facility and securing the warehouse including arming the alarm and troubleshooting any alarm faults.
  • Maintains the warehouse floor by organizing the freight into the established areas.
  • Assists in creating work schedules for the staff.
  • Assists in interviewing and hiring employees.
  • Assists in coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees.
  • Trains employees to handle the warehouse activities per the established warehouse procedures.
  • Keeps the industrial trucks operating properly by enforcing the operating procedures with the staff, troubleshooting any breakdowns, making required repairs, and calling for servicing the industrial trucks.
  • Responsible for Safety and security of the facility (pin locks, k-rails)
  • Responsible for equipment inventory out in the yard.
  • Assisting in responding to customer complaints.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Ability:

Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

 

 

Mathematical Ability:

Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Exposure to outdoor weather conditions including possible heat, cold, rain, ice and snow; unregulated and semi-regulated indoor warehouse temperatures; temperature regulated refrigeration trailers and storage areas; moderate to high noise levels.  Work performed on and near powered industrial trucks and near pedestrian traffic.

  • Stand, sit, stoop, walk and reach with hands and arms.  
  • Talk and hear
  • Regularly reach, lift and move up to (75) pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to (50) pounds (20-30) feet.
  • Occasionally, with the aid of a pallet jack, push or pull loads in excess of (2500) pounds the length of the container to locations designated for receiving purposes.
  • On a regular basis, work hours in excess of the standard 40 hour work week may be required to meet operational needs.  This may include weekends if necessary.
  • Step onto and off from a forklift with a step height of (18”) from floor level.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to focus with the aid of eye wear if needed.
