Position Description

Hadoop Admin will have responsibilities for setting up Hadoop clusters. Other duties involve backup, recovery and maintenance. Hadoop administration requires good knowledge of hardware systems and excellent understanding of Hadoop architecture.

Job Responsibilities

• Installing, configuring & administering Cloudera cluster (Cloud or on-prem)
• Conducts performance tests on all environments
• Ability to develop functionality within a Hadoop clusters
• Ability to manage data files available in the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS)
• Configuring HIVE and Oozie to store metadata in Microsoft SQL Server
• Developing HIVE scripts to combine and find data insights Utilizing SQOOP to export data insights from HDFS
• Hadoop administration includes ongoing administration of the Hadoop infrastructure.
• Keeping track of Hadoop Cluster connectivity and security
• Capacity planning and screening of Hadoop cluster job performances.
• Setting up new Hadoop users

Qualifications

• BS and 7+ years or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of all phases of software development including design, coding, testing, debugging, implementation, and support
• Experience writing and reviewing software design specifications in an object oriented development environment
• Ability to thoroughly understand the business issues surrounding each project
• Ability to respond directly to questions from business clients
• Ability to be a technical authority and work with other team members
• Knowledge of standard change management tools and processes
• Ability to work in a team environment

Platform Technical Skills

• Knowledge of HBase for efficient Hadoop administration
