This description is for general identification of our Warehouse Persons job requirements, in warehouses operated by American Fast Freight, Inc., and its affiliate companies.

Company objectives of Warehouse Persons are: 1) Serving our customers transportation requirements in the manner they expect and do it better than our competitors can, 2) Processing our customer's freight through our warehouse in a clean, damage free and timely manner, 3) Working well with fellow employees and vendors serving our company, and 4) Working safely is a priority, to you personally and too each of your fellow employees. We have the proper equipment, tools, and safety protective wear, and it is a part of your job to use it. If safety equipment and supplies should become worn out broken or defective, it is your responsibility to bring it to the attention of your supervisor.

Following is a listing of warehouse activities customarily found, making up the job description of a Warehouse Person. Being assigned to one or more job activity for a given period of time does not mean that activity becomes an exclusive job description or position.

Warehouse Janitorial;

Keeping equipment, warehouse, and outside yard areas clean and safe to work in with cleaning supplies, brooms, mops, machines, hand tools, etc., on a constant basis. This can also involve use of cleaning chemicals, which may require the use of protective wear.

Each location is to maintain a list of all chemicals used in the facility and insure Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are available for all of them. A part of, and condition of the janitorial duties are to read, understand and use the proper protective ware required for cleaning to be done.  And to know the proper way to dispose of any/all chemicals that may require disposal.

Trash disposal is to be accomplished routinely as established at each location. Potential chemical disposals must be accomplished as lawfully allowed for only.

Janitorial duties may be the primary assignment of one Warehouse Person in larger facilities, but it is still the responsibility of all, to keep our facilities and work areas clean and safe to work in.

Freight Receiving.  (Refrigerated & Dry)

When customer/vendor freight shipments arrive, Warehouse Persons are to review the inbound freight documents to verify freight being delivered is intended and can be handled by us. If freight is not identified as belonging to us or is loaded in such a manner that it seems likely to sustain damage in unloading, contact your supervisor to get instructions for what to do next.

Unloading of a container/truck/trailer/rail or other equipment may require use of a forklift, by hand, and/or other tools to safely remove freight from the equipment it arrived in. If use of special equipment or tools is required for unloading, you must be trained, authorized, and use protective wear required during the use of the equipment and/or tools. If you do not have training, authorization or protective ware required, contact your supervisor.

During and upon completing unloading, visually inspect, count and weigh freight as required.  Any/All damaged freight, differences in counts and/or weights are to be clearly noted in writing on the delivering carriers’ freight receiving documents (Our copy, and the copy returned to the delivering carrier). Notify your supervisor and/or other persons concerned at your facility, that freight exceptions were noted. And, advise them if you think the exception needs further attention to prevent additional damages.

Receiving of freight directly off a vessel and/or from dray operators that do not have paperwork for vendor, or interline delivery purpose, is to be inspected in the same manner as if received from a vendor or interline carrier. Unload manifests are to be made up showing any and all differences.

Take pictures anytime they can offer support to your notation of damages on receiving papers, or unload manifests.
