Talent Orchard LLC, a Woman Owned Small Business with 8a designation has been contracted by a large defense contractor in their search for a Sr. Production Control Specialist.

The Production Control Specialist II reports directly to the Infrastructure Service Delivery Manager (SDM) and will join the Data Center operations team in support of the City of Anaheim’s compute environment supporting application operations, providing direction to the production control team, provide support for nightly, weekly jobs, reporting, print tasks, and monitor the progress and escalate as necessary the execution of nightly, weekly and monthly tasks. The Production Control Specialist II will work closely with the Application Support and Development team as well as the SAIC Service Desk in Cookeville, TN.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Recommend Vendor’s standard job scheduling and execution operations procedures, including ETL (extract, transform and load), procedures relating to application interdependencies, City contacts, and rerun requirements for all processing jobs (e.g., batch jobs, file transfers to Third Parties).
  • Provide job monitoring and scheduling (including reruns, and job abend recovery), job execution, cancellations and reporting services.
  • Implement and manage City-approved scheduling tools (BMC Control- series products and house written scheduling products) for managing/automating job execution (e.g., job lists, automated job workflow processes and interdependencies).
  • Develop and maintain job and processing schedules.
  • Provide job and processing monitoring and scheduling (including reruns), job execution, cancellations and daily metrics reporting.
  • Prepare production, test and demand batch jobs for execution per City approved schedules.
  • Execute production, test and demand batch jobs on required systems per City approved schedules.
  • Monitor progress of scheduled jobs, confirm job completion and identify, escalate if necessary and Resolve, per procedures, jobs that do not complete successfully.
  • Provide job scheduling interface for ad hoc job submission and status.
  • Hold and release jobs upon request.
  • Start-up and shut-down online/interactive systems according to defined schedules or upon approved request.
  • Maintain database of job scheduling, contact, rerun and interdependencies.
  • Provide quality control for processing and reprocessing activities (e.g., batch reruns).
  • Prepare job run parameters.
  • Validate job results per City instructions.
  • Maintain a history of job completion results.
  • Achievement of critical performance metrics including all contractually required Service Level Requirements (SLRs) on a 24x7 basis are a key focus of this position.  
  • Interfaces with customer application developers, storage system support personnel, ITSM service delivery leadership, and contract support personnel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years' experience providing production control and scheduling services on Mainframe/Open Systems computing infrastructures.
  • Proficient in Control M/O/D scheduling, automation & report distribution software tools.
  • Proficient in ERP and Financial computing environments.
  • Experience working in commercial or local government business environments.
  • Excellent Communication Skills – written and oral.
  • Must be flexible in outlook and attitude.
  • Excellent planning/time management skills.
  • Excellent client-facing skills.
  • Ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs with a minimal impact on reliability.
  • Location of work is the City of Anaheim located in Anaheim, CA.  Local candidate is preferred.
  • Background check and drug test required

Desired Qualifications

  • Disaster Recovery experience beneficial.
  • Experience working in commercial and local governments business settings.
  • ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation Certification.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze, identify and direct resolution of technical, administrative and process issues.
