Principal Desktop Technician

Talent Orchard LLC, a Woman Owned Small Business with 8a designation has been contracted by a large defense contractor in their search for a Principal Desktop Technician.

The Principal Desktop Technician reports directly to the Workplace Solutions Service Delivery Manager (SDM) and will, under minimal supervision, provide front-line support to end users for installation, repair and preventative maintenance of personal computers, laptops and printers. This support may be provided on-site or remotely as needed. Installs, configures and troubleshoots desktop systems, workstations and printers, as well as performing IMACs for phones.  Maintains passwords, data integrity and file system security for the desktop environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Directly support customers and assist with IT department upgrades and directives. Manage and oversee business hours, after hours and weekend technical activities as needed.
  • Repair and provide preventative maintenance of desktop computers, laptops and printers
  • Patch management
  • Software distribution
  • Enterprise antivirus solution
  • Desktop and application troubleshooting
  • Communicates highly technical information to both technical and non-technical resources
  • Interacts with numerous resolver groups to restore service and/or identify core problems
  • Responsible for maintaining acceptable levels of customer satisfaction according to defined policies.
  • Trains end-users on software packages and standard IT procedures as required
  • Participates in new application rollouts, testing and special projects as needed
  • Trouble shoots software and hardware failures
  • Interacts daily with supervisor, peer groups, Service Desk and customers

Qualifications

  •  AA Degree in related discipline and six (6) years of related experience; Or, High School and eight (8) years of related experience with relevant certification
  • Must be capable of providing support for desktops, laptops and printer repair
  • Must be capable of providing customer consulting services with minimal supervision
  • Strong oral/written communication and customer interface skills a necessity
  • Microsoft Encryption within a large enterprise environment
  • Modification of systems Registry
  • ITIL Foundations certifications beneficial
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel
  • Strong Motivational skills
  • Excellent planning/time management skills
  • Excellent client-facing skills
  • Physical requirement:  Candidate must be able to carry and lift up to 40 lbs
  • Location of work is Anaheim, CA. 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working in commercial and local governments business settings
  • ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation Certification
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze, identify and direct resolution of technical, administrative and process issues
