Talent Orchard LLC, a Woman Owned Small Business with 8a designation has been contracted by a large defense contractor in their search for a Linux Systems Administrator to work in Chantilly, VA.  This position requires a Top Secret with ability to obtain a SCI with Poly clearance.

 

Description of Duties:

  • Performs high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, patching and upgrades for complex operating systems.
  • Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
  • Continually monitors and tunes multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels.Experience with basic Linux configuration including LDAP authentication, file system mounting, updating and managing packages, and managing/ installing services.
  • Active Directory Authentication (Realm), Kerberos a plus
  • Familiar with Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or a similar configuration management software
  • Knowledge and understanding of pipeline management and CI/CD. Plus to know GitLab/Jenkins.
  • Shows basic understanding of storage and virtualization, bonus points for VMware
  • Experience with Linux Shell Scripting, python & perl a plus.
  • Linux - SSL/TLS Certificate Management – use of tools like (openssl / keytool)
  • Linux – SSH – Setup Public / Private Key
  • Must have knowledge of RMF and NIST 800-53 implementations in secure environments.
  • Responsible for ensuring smooth IT operations at the workforce assigned to designated work locations and/or remote access needs.
  • IT Support for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and debugging Laptop/desktop, servers, networks, phones, printers, AV and VTC and Software systems.  
  • Interfaces with the employees/customers to ensure new IT systems (HW, SW and networks) are coordinated through all corporate interfaces (Security, ITO Directorates). 
  • Conducts on-site installation and testing of IT equipment to ensure proper working order.   
  • Responsibilities include oversight and integration support of existing hardware, software, network configurations and new system initiatives for all sites within area of responsibility. 
  • Installation of software maintenance releases or hardware upgrades including the oversight of the installation process and test procedures to diagnose and resolve product performance problems at installation. 
  • Identifies areas requiring product improvement and approves/implements upgrades and hardware or software engineering change orders. 
  • Provides feedback and customer support regarding product performance problems and suggested solutions which may require product exchanges or more complex problem solving.  Plans, prepares and conducts on-the-job training as required in support of the foregoing activities. 
  • Performs design and implementation of IT systems that require the integration of diverse and complex components.
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. 
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate requirements into hardware and software specifications. 
  • Provides specific, detailed information for selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements, facility requirements (including floor layout, power & cooling, network connectivity), data storage, backup, monitoring, operating systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation. 

Required Skills/Experience/Abilities

  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience.  Experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • 5 years demonstrated experience designing, installing, operating, and troubleshooting applications in a Red Hat Linux environment.
  • Perform system administration and maintenance on web-based servers, databases, and storage.
  • DoDI 8570.01m certification (IAT-II): minimum Security+ CE
  • Active/current TS Clearance with the ability to obtain SCI

Desired Qualifications

  • One or more of the following certifications desired: Linux (Red Hat); Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE);database administration; storage administration
  • Hadoop, Java, JBoss and other programmatic skills
  • Experience performing DISA STIG administration, patching, and logging

Clearance: Current/active Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.
