Position Location: Dearborn, MI
Department:  Accounting and Finance
Reports To: Finance and Accounting to Director of Accounting  
FLSA:  Exempt

Summary

Primary purpose of this position is to compile and maintain the financial information utilized as a basis for serving the financial, tax, fiduciary and administrative interests of the family and their related entities, including trusts, LLCs, investments and donor advised funds. The accountant will also be expected to manage the bill pay process and assist Finance leadership with other general duties. 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, improve and document processes and controls
  • Manage all pertinent information relative to estate planning, trusts, tax, insurance, investment activity and other cash flow activities
  • Manage preparation of monthly financial statements including balance sheet, income statement and cash flow
  • Partner with external tax preparer to ensure coordination and filing of income tax returns and any other applicable returns (state income tax, LLC tax returns).
  • Assist with the management and execution of processes related to trustee duties
  • Identify innovative ways to improve reporting on history and trends to support opportunities for more accurate forecasting
  • Responsible for the financial analysis and reporting associated with various properties and projects
  • Support the review and assessment of investment advisor performance and assist with requests for proposals for new advisors when necessary
  • Support management and other internal team members on special projects and requests for specific information and analysis as needed

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Required in Accounting/Finance

Required Skills and Experience

  • Preferred: Certified Public or Management Accountant
  • 3 - 4 years of public accounting, family office or other relevant financial accounting experience, including experience managing multiple projects
  • Interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work autonomously and independently
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion
  • Analysis and problem solving skills
