Description

Talent Orchard, LLC has been retained by a large defense contractor in their search for a Linux Systems Administrator at Offutt, AFB, NE. SECRET CLEARANCE REQUIRED.

 

This position is an expert authority on relevant Systems Administration subject matter knowledge, including security technologies, theories, or techniques (such as security frameworks and methodologies). Contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas. Candidate will provide system administration support to the programs Linux and Enterprise Storage Solution (ESS) production, test, and development environments, to include: system installation, configuration, troubleshooting, performance analysis, tuning, upgrading, patch maintenance, license management, system backup administration, user account/environment administration, implementing and maintaining system security postures, fiber attached storage manipulation, and assisting with hardware/software installations. Candidate should be self-motivated and will follow standard processes, plan effectively to complete tasks on schedule, and clearly document processes and results. Candidate will also participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call operational support role. Basic qualifications: Applicant should have a solid working knowledge of RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL5/6) operating systems and Linux High Performance Computing (HPC), RHEL HA (High Availability) Cluster management, RedHat Satellite Server (RHSS), RedHat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV), and HP and Dell blade server,chassis management. Applicant should also have a good understanding of networking/zoning to include VLAN/VSAN setup, Storage Area Network (SAN) administration skills including Compellent and XP24000, and experience with RHEL and SELINUX system security lockdowns to include SCAP STIG and NESSUS ACAS mitigations. 

 

Candidate MUST have at least one of and able to obtain the following certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+. 

Candidate Must Have a SECRET CLEARANCE.

 

Responsibilities include: 

• Installs, maintains, and upgrades OSs and applications for UNIX and Linux environments. 

• Manages file systems and configuration. Provides recommendations regarding system performance and capacity planning to include new technologies enhancing current methods and technologies. 

• Understands/adheres to and implements overall security policies. 

• Assists in development and implementation of policies and procedures regarding core infrastructure, including backup and restore procedures, load and performance monitoring, access permissions, hardware provisioning, hardware and software installation, configuration, and maintenance. 

• Assists with software release and monthly system maintenance. 

• Performs troubleshooting and problem resolution. 

• Work with outside contractors, vendors, and support desks as needed for hardware and software support. 

• Perform security Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) patch actions as directed by the designated government Security Office. 

• Monitors and audit system logs for system and network anomalies. 

• Investigates and/or escalates security violations, attempts to gain unauthorized access, virus infections that may affect the network or other event affecting security. Documents and reports event(s). 

• Assists in providing engineering analysis, design and support for servers, storage, firewalls, routers, networks and operating systems. Minimum Requirements: 

• Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience OR Master’s Degree with 8 years of relevant industry experience.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience OR Master’s Degree with 8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in Linux Systems Administration
  • Ability to interact with employees at all levels
  • Possess security certification (Security+, etc.) ITIL v3 Foundation certification

Basic qualifications: Applicant should have a solid working knowledge of RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL5/6) operating systems, RHEL HA (High Availability) Cluster management, RedHat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV), RedHat Satellite Server (RHSS), and HP and Dell blade server chassis management. Applicant should also have an understanding of networking/zoning to include VLAN/VSAN setup, and experience with RHEL and SELINUX system security lockdowns to include SCAP STIG and NESSUS ACAS mitigations. An understanding of Storage Area Network (SAN) administration would be a plus. Candidate should have, or be able to obtain a CompTIA Security+ certification prior to their start date.

Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
