Job Title:         Warehouse Worker

Reports to:     Terminal Manager

Department:  AFFD Anchorage

FLSA:               Non-Exempt

Summary

A Warehouse Worker’s primary responsibility is to load, unload, and processing of all shipments, maintain inventory accuracy, maintain order accuracy and ensure the warehouse and yard remain clean and organized. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Work Schedule:

• Start times may vary Monday through Friday based on customer’s needs
• Schedules are set by the Manager
• Weekend work and/or overtime may be required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Load and unload freight
• Inventory accuracy
• Process and document all shipments
• Maintain packing supplies
• Ensure yard and warehouse remain clean and organized
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or equivalent combination of experience and education
• Knowledge of transportation industry helpful
• Forklift experience required
• Forklift certification a plus, but not required
• Must be able to satisfy physical demands (see below)
• Must be reliable and flexible with schedule
• Willing and able to work with all personality types, with a professional, helpful manner
• Ability and desire to perform well in a fast-paced, fluid environment where tasks change quickly
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen, and background check

Communication Skills:

• Employee must have the ability to read, and write the English language
• Have the ability to effectively communicate and present information and respond to questions from management, customers and the general public
• Must be able to communicate with a positive team mentality at all times, both written and verbal

 Reasoning Abilities:

• Employee must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations professionally

Certificates, Licenses:

• Forklift certification a plus, but not required

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

• Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear.
• Lift and/or move a minimum of 75 lbs.
• Ability to operate a forklift
• Move with the aid of a pallet jack, loads in excess of (2500) pounds to warehouse locations
• Move with the aid of a hand truck, loads with boxes stacked 10-15 high, weighing in excess of (100) pounds to warehouse locations
• Work in extreme weather conditions, with temperature variances from + 90 degrees Fahrenheit to – 50 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the course of a season.
