Principal DevOps Engineer

 

GENERAL FUNCTION: 
Responsible for analysis, design, implementation and ongoing maintenance of automated DevOps solutions for use throughout the IT organization. Solutions will benefit both application teams and operations teams while conforming with governance policies/standards. Will collaborate closely with other DevOps team members within an Agile team structure while partnering across the IT community to understand automation needs and priorities. Provide leadership in the formation, communication and implementation of DevOps strategy and standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Monitoring industry trends and identifying gaps in company's technologies and services
•Lead POC efforts around new DevOps capabilities and tools
•Analysis, design, build and maintenance of automated DevOps solutions
•Packaging and distribution of solutions for enterprise consumption
•Providing/maintaining documentation to facilitate end user adoption and operational support
•Building consensus around the formation of emerging DevOps best practices 
•Coordination with DevOps tooling vendors or open source communities 
•Partnering with key stakeholders across IT apps and ops teams
•Learning corporate standards and policies as well as understanding underlying rationale
•Collaborating with architecture, risk, security, audit & ITSM personnel
•Provide assistance as necessary to support staff working on incident/problem remediation
•Assume additional responsibilities as assigned


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
•8+ years combined experience working on DevOps solutions / application development required
•Expert level mastery of DevOps principles/concepts and real world implementations required
•Experience identifying/engineering automation opportunities throughout the SDLC required
•Experience with implementing enterprise-level frameworks/services required
•Understanding of IT operations, especially change & release management, required
•Understanding of ITIL service management principles required
•Proficiency with REST API and webhook integration required
•Proficiency with scripting languages such as Groovy or Python required
•Proficiency with linux and windows shell scripting required
•Experience with git-based VCS required (GitHub a plus)
•Experience with build and dependency management tooling (Maven, Gradle, etc.) required
•Experience with binary artifact management tooling required, JFrog Artifactory a plus
•Proficiency building CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins required
•Knowledge of Java and .NET based application packaging, deployment and hosting required
•Experience integrating with Test Automation tooling required
•Experience integrating with Secure Development tooling required
•Experience with SonarQube, ARA and APM tooling a plus
•Experience with AWS native DevOps tooling a plus
•Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift a plus
•Experience with Ansible Tower a plus
•Strong leadership and interpersonal skills required
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
•Excellent teamwork/collaboration skills required
•Experience working within Agile scrum methodology a plus
