Career Evolutions is searching for a Linux Support Engineer for a fast growing global hi-tech company. Full-Time, Direct-Hire, Remote opportunity with compensation up to $130K.

As a Technical Support Engineer, you will be providing outstanding technical support experience to all customers. From issue to full resolution, you will own and manage cases over the phone, email and web. You engage in challenging problems to solve, picking each other’s brains and bouncing ideas for helping customers to make the most of their systems. You assume direct responsibility and drive exceptional support provided to customer base, with specific focus on assigned accounts. You will manage support escalations and issue prioritization, acting internally as a customer advocate. On a rotation basis, you will be available for on-call support out of office hours.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required
Minimum 5 years experience supporting Linux systems
Extensive experience with OpenStack, virtualization and other Cloud technologies
Advanced troubleshooting up to application layer, including core dump analysis and kernel dump analysis desirable
Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following:
Advanced storage, i.e. RAID, LVM, SAN, file system tuning
Advanced networking, i.e. bonding, firewalling, bridging, switching, network file system tuning
Clustering, cloud computing, i.e. provisioning, monitoring, orchestration
Linux integration with other environments, i.e. authentication/directory services, network file systems
CI/CD tooling
Container technologies, i.e. Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher
Development and troubleshooting experience in programming languages, i.e. Bash, C, Python, GO
Experience managing customer relationships through consulting engagements, account management, or direct support
Experience with Ubuntu or Debian. Must be able to understand Ubuntu OS bugs and advise on next steps, acting as a generalist when necessary
Ability to travel internationally up to 20%
Experience with MAAS and Juju (PLUS)
Fluency in other languages (PLUS)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
