Overview

The Data Platform Operations Manager is responsible for leading operations and optimization of our data platform. This individual will manage data platform architecture and engineering team in the design, installation, configuration, upgrade, maintenance and overall management of capacity, performance of databases in our hosting environment. This position will be engaged, accountable and drive delivery execution while collaborating with various stakeholders (Business users, Project Managers, Operations Team, Converged Infrastructure Team, Network Team and Information Security team).

Predominant technology stacks this individual will be responsible is SQL Server and Hadoop technologies.

This position will be responsible for all efforts to implement mature technical operations management disciplines by implementing best in class database operational processes. This position will be responsible for new database driven projects including: prioritization, estimation, scope and delivery management and support. This position will have responsibility for managing direct reports, working with matrix management of a global infrastructure project delivery teams.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors’ degree in business administration, computer science or management information systems with at least 10 to 15 years of total IT experience.
  • At least 5 to 7 years’ experience in IT operations / leadership role.
  • At least 3 to 5 years’ experience building, managing and operating mission-critical and highly available data platform operations for 24x7x365 operations – preferably on SQL Server platform
  • Familiar with 3 tier web application architectures.
  • Work experience with SQL Server implementation and operations (SQL Server 2016 preferred).
  • Familiar with Hadoop and related Big Data technologies such as Spark and NoSQL.
  • Familiar with building and operating scalable, highly available, mission critical applications.
  • Work experience with and strong understanding of SOA & application/enterprise architecture concepts, standards, patterns, and best practices.
  • Work experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to balance multiple demands and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Professionalism in dealing with all levels of management and staff.
