POSITION TITLE:  Sr. Android Developer

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Our client is looking for an experienced and motivated senior embedded software engineer for our innovative engineering team in Newport Beach, CA. You will be working in an agile, collaborative, and results-focused environment. This role requires experience in single-board computer (SBC) development and integration, streaming audio and video technologies, all using Android ecosystem and C/C++.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the initiative of building our embedded software using the Android ecosystem.
  • Work with Linux and Android frameworks to build and create software designs  
  • Work alongside hardware and software engineers to improve and debug design flaws  
  • Work with entire code base to design, develop, test, and deploy new software for mobile devices
  • Work and collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers and QA engineers to achieve goals and meet crucial release deadlines.
  • Interfacing with mechanical, electrical, systems, and test engineers for development improvements.
  • Provide direction or insight to Jr. and mid-level Engineers on the team.
  • Prepare reports and present project status to senior and executive management within IT and related departments.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • MS Degree in Computer Science a plus
  • 10 + years’ experience in embedded software development
  • 5 + years’ working experience configuring the Android Operating System, kernel, developing device drivers, and building applications for the Android platform
  • Expert level using JNI and Android NDK
  • Strong Android SDK skills
  • Proven working experience in an agile distributed environment
  • Extensive knowledge of embedded Linux/Android system software layers, including OS kernel, BSP, open source stack, middleware, and applications
  • Experience configuring Bluetooth and WiFi components for devices
  • Programming experience in Android, Java, C, C++
  • Familiarity with Android sensor framework
  • Self-motivated and able to lead technology initiatives
  • Ability to document and present technical design proposals
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S
