Description

 

Cleveland Operations, an aerospace forging facility located at., is seeking candidates for a Design Engineer position. Under the supervision of the Design Lead, the principal challenge of this position is to determine the best forging design possible in keeping with customer’s requirements and evaluating the economics and functional design of tooling required to produce the forgings. A constant analysis must be made to look for improvements possible, to keep abreast with competition, and to produce designs in the shortest possible time.

 

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Performs the design modeling tasks required for the development of forging designs and die design details.Provides efficient and economical forging designs and related components such as die designs, fixtures and checking devices, and models/drawings related to hydraulic presses, mechanical presses, and forging hammers.

Analyzes the effectiveness and interaction of tooling and forging design parameters in the forging process parameters.

Consults with die shop personnel and project and process engineers in keeping with production requirements. Calculations must be performed to determine input stock, steel size requirements, equipment capabilities and related auxiliary equipment.

Prepares estimates of new forging requirements such as tolerances, machining requirements, die steel sizing, and forging model proposals as requested by the customer.

 

Qualifications

 

Basic Qualifications :

High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution

Minimum of 1 year of experience in design engineering

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S person as U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications :

The ability to layout, interpret, and execute clear and easily understood drawings and CAD models is essential.

Knowledge of plant equipment and its capabilities, production practices, and interpretation of customer’s specifications related to drawings and tolerancing systems of varying types is necessary.

Experience with 2D and 3D CAD systems, CAD drawings, Deform, Blocky, and 2D analysis.

Programming ability in C, VB, Fortran, Unix scripting and CAD scripting is also desired.

Catia experience strongly preferred.
