Engineering Co is looking for highly motivated and eager to learn candidates for an entry-level Mechanical/Civil Drafting Technician position.  This position can be based out of our  Louisiana or Longview, Texas offices.   This is a drafting job not  engineering. 

Drafting technicians are responsible for using AutoCAD and Revit software programs to develop construction plans for various project types.  This specific position will be based primarily in the industrial facility design group with projects at new and existing facilities including manufacturing facilities, wood product mills and facilities, oil and gas processing facilities, etc.  The technician will be required to take direction from Professional Engineers and other designers to produce plans in a timely and accurate manner. The technician may also be responsible for processing plans with various governmental agencies for review and approval.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Coordination with engineers, architects, clients and other professionals and at all times represent the company in a professional and courteous way
• Attend internal/external design review meetings
• Preparation of basic design calculations
• Production of drawings and construction details using AutoCAD and Revit
• Contributing to providing solutions to design problems
• Supporting the administration of projects including production and assembly of drawing sets, books, reports, etc.
• Ensuring drawings meet the required codes and standards
• Meeting agreed deadlines
• Working in both an office environment and on site in facilities
• Conducting site visits and surveying work with senior members of staff in a safe and professional manner

Experience/Skills Required:

• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to pay special attention to details
• Ability to work with team members in the design process
• Proficient use of AutoCAD and/or Revit
