Travel:  Minimal travel required.         

 

Description:

 

The Senior Manager of Product Management – Data Products works with our software engineers, product managers, big data experts, designers, and data scientists to oversee our core data and scores.

 

Key Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage our data vendors to yield the best return on our data investment
  • Ensure faithful product delivery, with significant responsibility to ensure that we are getting the best possible results for our product investment
  • Develop specific product requirements
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Customer Care and Product Development to evaluate and prioritize product features for inclusion into product roadmap
  • Interface with WE Executives to help shape the company’s data strategy 
  • Partner with our product marketing team to ensure the most effective sales and marketing of WE solutions
  • Support customer care and professional services to answer questions and gather customer feedback, which shapes product development
  • Conduct market research and competitor research to stay aware of important trends in the market that inform product strategy

 

Position Requirements:


This individual must have:

  • Experience managing technology vendor relationships and negotiating contracts
  • Solid understanding of relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or MS SQL Server and have a working knowledge of SQL and database architecture
  • Experience with ETL, data cleaning and data vendors such as Acxiom, Dun & Bradstreet and NCOA service providers
  • Solid technical background with understanding of software development and web technologies
  • Ability to seamlessly think and act from a business and technical perspective
  • Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organization
  • Ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced, performance-oriented culture with smart people
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, influence outcomes, establish credibility and question the status quo
  • Ability to effectively manage relationships, respond timely to requests, balance shifting priorities and meet and exceed expectations
  • Exceptional level of integrity, raw intelligence, creativity, energy, and passion
  • Relentless attention to detail and a tendency to do great work regardless of the task

Though not required, the following are a plus:

 

  • Experience working in the data-driven marketing industry
  • Hands-on role in projects that are big data oriented, where the core engineering problems are around scaling to support the amount of data using common open source tools such as Hadoop, Spark/Shark, Storm, Kafka, and Cassandra
  • Experience with sophisticated data modeling and data science
  • Experience with modeling tools such as R or SAS
  • Knowledge of Luxury & Nonprofit markets
  • Prior experience in a startup environment

     

Education/Experience:

 

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent work experience - and comfort working in a highly technical environment (MBA a plus)
  • 5+ years experience in a technology product management role
  • 2+ years of hands-on software development experience
