  1. Processes our customer's freight through our warehouse in a clean, damage free and timely manner

Essential Duties and Functions:

  1. Refrigerated Freight Receiving

    1. Review the inbound freight documents to verify freight being delivered is intended and can be handled by us.

    2. Unloading of a container/truck/trailer/rail or other equipment may require use of a forklift, by hand, and/or other tools to safely remove freight from the equipment it arrived in.

    3. Visually inspect, count and weigh freight as required.  Any/All damaged freight, differences in counts and/or weights are to be clearly noted in writing on the delivering carriers freight receiving documents.

    4. Receiving of freight directly off a vessel and/or from dray operators that do not have paperwork for vendor, or interline delivery purpose, is to be inspected in the same manner as if received from a vendor or interline carrier.  Unload manifests are to be made up showing any and all differences.

    5. Take pictures anytime they can offer support to your notation of damages on receiving papers, or unload manifests.

  2. Refrigerated Freight Loading

    1. Loading of a container/truck/trailer/rail or other equipment may require use of a forklift, by hand, and/or other tools to safely load freight into or onto, the equipment it is to be transported on.

    2. Loading is to be accomplished per the directions of persons responsible to set up load plans.

    3. Loaders are to insure load records required, are made and turned in to the proper persons for file record-keeping.

  3. Loading considerations:

    1. Loading is to be packed as tightly as possible to prevent shifting of freight that can cause damage during transit. 

    2. Selecting top and bottom load freight is critical to prevent bottom freight from crushing. 

    3. If blocking and bracing is needed, use it. 

    4. During the loading process, any observations that may help or prevent damage are to be reported to persons setting up load plans. 

    5. Any accidents causing damage during loading are to be reported to the supervisor and a determination made for continued handling, of the damaged items.

    6. All hazardous materials freight is to be handled and co-loaded strictly as required by the product.

    7. If you are not certain it is right, ask your supervisor.

    8. Take pictures anytime they can offer support to your loading process.

  4. Must be able to use a forklift and pallet jack. 

  5. Light janitorial duties such as sweeping, taking out the garbage, and other housekeeping duties as assigned. 

  6. Excellent internal and external customer service skills are required. 

  7. There will also be other duties as assigned.

 

Experience:

  1. Comprehensive knowledge internal and external customer service.

 

Language Skills:

Employee must have the ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.

Effectively communicate and present information in order to respond to inquiries from management, coworkers, customers and the general public.

 

Reasoning Abilities:

Employee must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations in a professional fashion.

 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee will be required to:

  • Stand, stoop, walk, and use arms and legs throughout the day.

  • Regularly move objects or parts weighing in excess of (50) pounds.

  • Intermittently lift and or move parts or objects weighing in excess of (50-75) pounds.

  • Have the ability to work in extreme weather conditions varying from +80 degrees Fahrenheit to –10 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the course of a work shift.

  • Overtime is expected.
