POSITION TITLE: Senior Financial Analyst 

 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

This position has the opportunity of working remote or out of the OC or LA County office. The Financial Analyst will provide financial and analytical support to improve business performance and drive improved financial outcomes.  

Essential Job Functions:

  • Partner with internal finance teams to help prepare, refresh, and consolidate monthly financial deck
  • Prepare and analyze cost center variance reports, comparing actual results vs. various scenarios (i.e. Budget, Forecast, and/or Prior Year), providing detailed variance analysis
  • Assist Manager of FP&A in cost center review meetings with department owners, Accounting, and/or other key stakeholders
  • Partner with Accounting in month-end close process.  Identifying root causes of variance within OPEX in a timely manner, checking for accruals and spend categorizations
  • Maintains and helps develop methodologies regarding corporate expense allocations
  • Assists management with compiling actuals on a monthly basis as well as developing forecasts and annual budget
  • Able to do ad hoc analysis based on requests/needs of management
  • Understanding of personnel costs (salary/benefits/payroll tax) and headcount related reporting/variance driver

  • Research, audit, track issues and work with operational leaders and/or health plan counterparts to resolve transactions which appear inconsistent with the risk pool arrangements.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred 
  • 2- 5 years related work experience, preferably in a health care / managed care setting is preferred
  • Background in financial modeling
  • Understanding of Finance/Accounting concepts such as journal entries, reversing entries, corporate allocations, month-end close processes, Income Statement & Balance Sheet, chart of accounts and cost centers, Net Income vs. EBITDA
  • Strong MS Excel and Powerpoint skills necessary; Microsoft Access or Power Query knowledge, financial system savvy, data savvy, able to pull and summarize large amounts of data
  • Excellent analytical abilities; strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple responsibilities and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Preferred:  Any ERP system experience (i.e. Hyperion, Essbase, SAP, Adaptive Insights, etc.).  Workday system experience and Healthcare knowledge is a plus
  • Excellent communication, analytical, facilitation and problem-solving skills.
  • Microsoft Windows programs such as Office, Word, Excel, and Access.
