We are looking for a Project Engineer – Dishwasher
Job Description
The Project Engineer position is responsible for supporting execution on project work involving the implementation of technological solutions related to improve wash, hydraulic, kinematic, heat/mass transfer and chemical delivery systems on Whirlpool Automatic Dishwashers. Specific technical focus areas of this role include fluid mechanics, mechanics of materials, and machine design. The ability to plan and execute design projects, initiate and generate technical data to support patent filings and business opportunities, to work independently and also with diverse technical and business groups is essential to this career. This position can be filled at a higher level depending on individual qualifications.
What You Will Do
- Develop Dishwasher Hydraulic Pumps, Food Soil Filters, Water Flow Channels, Electro-Mechanical Valves and their attachments
- Optimization of system performance, reliability and cost
- Failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) and Design Verification Plan Execution
- Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance Analysis
- Problem identification, analysis, and execution of system refinement needs
- Data acquisition, analysis, and evaluation.
- Active participation in technical project reviews and innovation sessions
- Work with cross-functional teams such as procurement, structures, lab, model shop, service and manufacturing
- Work directly with external suppliers
Education
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering,
Preferred Requirements
- 2+ yrs experience
- Proven application of fluids, heat/mass transfer, and machine design in conjunction with product development
- Masters in one of the following preferred, Fluids, Heat/Mass Transfer, or Controls
- Demonstrated ability to take projects to market preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and variation
- Statistical tolerancing preferred
- Knowledge and application of Six Sigma Design practices preferred
- Ability to identify and manage critical design factors
- Demonstrated interest and ability in thinking across disciplines and across teams
- Excellent track record of accomplishment of goals and objectives
- Outstanding people skills, with the ability to interact with team members
- Basic Pro/E(Creo) skills
- Ability to lead a small team
- A constant thirst for knowledge and continual improvement
