SUMMARY

The Sr. Project Engineer – Automation is responsible for providing the managerial and technical expertise necessary to direct the efforts of a project team and to support other project teams. The project team consists of contractors from various crafts as well as members of department as assigned. Responsibilities also include analysis, recommendation, implementation, cost justification and follow-up on projects designed to increase or improve productivity, capacity, or safety.

 

PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES PERFORMED BY THE INCUMBENT

• Evaluate the feasibility of conceptual projects and prepares detailed analysis, including time and cost for completing the projects.
• Assure that assigned projects are in compliance with State, Federal and local codes which encompass environmental protection, FDA requirements, OSHA, and hazardous waste-related issues.
• Communicate and report status of each project to the management and department that sponsors the project.
• Maintain awareness of current pharmaceutical manufacturing needs and standards and initiates programs/projects to achieve the goal of facility being a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing site.
• Direct and coordinates activities of various vendors for each project to eliminate any potential conflict and assures that vendors comply with all the safety rules and regulations.
• Prepare URS, Risk Assessments, Safety Assessments associated with the project.
• Prepare specifications for projects to include all dimensions, electrical, mechanical and utility considerations.
• Develop bid packages by comparing vendors/contractors as selected.
• Ensure timely and within budget completion of the projects as assigned by his/her manager.
• Select contractor(s) and award jobs.
• Oversee/manage the execution of the project(s).

 

REQUIREMENTS

• BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or other similar disciplines.
• 5 years of manufacturing, OEM or System Integration experience.
• At least 3 years of experience specifying, configuring and troubleshooting with:
a. PLC based control systems.
b. Instrumentation.
c. Operator Interfaces and SCADA systems
• Experience with Studio 5000, RSLogix500, FT View SE, FT View ME, TIA Portal, Step 7 Classic, PCS 7, Proficy iFix, SQL Server, Visual Studio.
• Experience in Virtualization of existing computerized systems and creation and maintenance of new Virtual Machines in the VMWare/VSphere Environment.
• Experience with Building Automation Systems is desired.(Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider).
• Project Management experience in a food, pharmaceutical or regulated environment and Six Sigma training is a plus.
• Experience with Industrial Data Collection, Visualization and Reporting Software is highly desired.
• Experience with integrative solution for track and trace packaging line equipment and serialization solutions is highly desired.
• Experience with VFDs, Vision Systems and Servos is highly desired.
• Experience programming and troubleshooting Robots with multiple axis of coordinated motions is highly desired.
• Knowledge of AutoCad or SolidWorks
 

 

Requirements Continued

• Knowledge of either Rockwell Automation (Allen Bradley) or Siemen Programing software. Familiarity with both is highly desired.
• Familiar with State, Federal and local codes.
• Familiarity with most common industrial networks is highly desired. (Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, ProfiBus, DeviceNet, ASI, ModBus TCP/IP).

• Good understanding of budgeting and cost control.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Must be able to work independently and set priority for himself/herself as well as team members.
