Position Summary: Perform work associated with the management, accounting, and reporting of financial activities, trends and analysis.

Technical/Functional Expectations:

  1. Manage Accounting Functions - Essential Function: Ensures that all accounting functions for the company are maintained on a current basis, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, company policy/procedures and existing state and federal tax laws to ensure compliance in all areas of responsibility.
  2. Financial Control - Essential Function: Apply financial procedures and processes in order to facilitate the organization's ability to meet its objectives.
  3. Financial Reporting - Essential Function: Collect, analyze, and summarize accounting and financial information and trends in order to prepare various monthly financial statements, and other financial reports.
  4. Tax Filings: Follow federal, state, and local requirements in order to protect organization's interests and comply with tax filings.
  5. Staff Leadership - Essential Function: Plan performance expectations, monitor, and appraise the associate's job results and performance in order to develop, coach, counsel, or discipline staff members.
  6. Budgets - Essential Function: Assist in the collection and consolidation of financial data for multiple budget preparation.
  7. Other duties as required: Job performance requires fulfilling other incidental or related duties as assigned, assisting and training others, and performing duties of higher rated positions from time to time for developmental purposes.

Business Experience:

  1. Minimum of 3+ years accounting experience: This is required in order to direct the organization's accounting department. This position must prepare financial statements and reports and as appropriate, will exercise strong judgment skills in surfacing information to supervisor. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others.
  2. Minimum of 2+ years supervising & managing staff: This is required to effectively and efficiently manage the accounting staff to meet goals and deadlines.
  3. Minimum of 1+ years experience in non-profit accounting: To understand the cost principles governing non-profit organizations whereby funding requirements can be achieved to maximize earnings and reporting provisions.
  4. Effective verbal & written communication skills: This is required in order to effectively and accurately provide information and work collaboratively with others, both internally and externally.
  5. Valid Driver’s License - Essential Function: A valid driver’s license is required in order to travel in the County and to other locations in the State.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
  2. 3+ years recent accounting experience required.
  3. Non-profit accounting management preferred.
